Hey yall!

I've shared most of our curriculum plan for this year, but you may have noticed I didn't share much about Gather Round. In today's video I will be addressing that. I hope y'all enjoy!

  • We don’t use it as much as we have in the past years and we do miss it. I just try to incorporate it as I can.
  • I just realized you're the same person I have talked to in the lives on M2H hahaha. Oh gosh. lol. Here for the animal crew! JR loves animals too and we have spent SO MUCH TIME focusing on animal science and zoology. We are also wanting to do some Human Body stuff this upcoming year. We haven't really done any at all beyond what he has learned from watching DIY Sci and other science shows. We started with Gather Round as our first ever curriculum. It doesn't work well for us as a stand alone, but there have been a few that we have LOVED and highly recommend to everyone. Inventions & Ideas and Botany have been our absolute favorites. I DO want to do their North American Animals unit, but I feel like it may not be enough of a challenge for my kiddo who's special interest is animals. For Easter last year we did Campfire Curriculums Easter unit and loved it. We haven't done Gather Rounds though.
  • So glad that you point out how you can tailor homeschool flow and curriculum to your and your daughter's needs, desires, and growth. Great video!

I do wish to do a Gather Round unit this upcoming year for the first time. Always hear so many good things about it! 🙏☺️

Have you checked out Harbor & Sprout for unit studies? You can get a monthly subscription for like $22 and you get to pick the unit you want. We have done Forensic Science, Zoology, and Outdoor Survival Skills. We are doing Human Body next. I use it as more of an enrichment activity vs our actual curriculum. We have had so much fun and learned so much. It’s much less parent reading than Gather Round.

We’ve used them on and off and started to enjoy it more this year. Unfortunately, GR announced a 20% price increase on their digital products starting in a couple of months so that’ll be a deterrent for use moving forward since we can find unit studies cheaper elsewhere.

In the same boat here . We have used it off and on mostly for 3 years as well and just needed a change - my son hates writing so the workbook setup was starting to cause tears. We have switched to MBs as well - this year we are doing God’s Design for Heaven and Earth . Next year we’ll do God’s Design for Life as well :D I love unit studies and it’s been hard not to buy them all 😂 We just finished Titanic from Campfire and are onto Pirates next :D
