I stayed at Hotel Korakuen/ホテル公楽園 in Niigata Prefecture. It’s the most affordable accommodation in the area, attracting enthusiasts from all over Japan with its vintage vending machines and arcade games. You can’t book a room online; reservations are only accepted over the phone in Japanese. They do not accommodate reservations in English, which is why there’s hardly any information about Hotel Korakuen in English.

A plane, a train, and a death defying 30 minute walk, shows your commitment to your followers. I guess the journey is worth it for the wallpaper alone.

Bonjin is brave like samurai warrior. No dingy hotel with broken vending machines scare him!!
  • @Leopoldian
Amazing how even the most dank and creepy Japanese motel seems so much safe than most places in western countries.

Wild that you FLEW , not to mention all the other travel, to eat some sad sandwiches. I admire your dedicaion!

Nissin needs to bring more of their products to the US. I see a lot of things in your and other creators videos, and I get rather jealous that I can't experience those foods myself. Thank You for allowing us to tag along on your trip.

this is the first time i see japan's actual rural community. also the unmanned train station is something out of a horror novel or slice of life.

As soon as you arrived at the hotel I recognised it as Korakuen! It was in the first episode of an excellent Japanese comedy drama series called Nihon Boro Yado Kiko, where the two main characters are touring Japan and can only afford to stay in shabby hotels. As the video mentioned there are many shabby hotel enthusiasts who seek out old run down hotels to stay at. Awesome video, thank you for going there! 😃👍

What an interesting hotel! Scary, yes, but I appreciate the efforts they make to maintain the old vending machines. In any other country they would be long since discarded.

That motel looks really intriguing. I would like to visit it, for the ancient vending machines, because that totally something that makes Japan so special for me (for all the "crazy stuff"). It looks like in the middle of nowhere however. I dont mind that everything very old, as it is clean. What I definitely dont like however, it that apparently everything smells of cigarette smoke. That is a definitive no go for me. Still, thanks a lot for sharing.
