My family’s favorite place for fried chicken when we lived in Hartsville 1980-85. The fried gizzards were awesome - we Japanese all love’em. Glad to see them still in business!

There was one in Fort Walton Beach, Florida in the early 70's. We loved it. Couldn't believe it closed. I didn't know the last one was in SC! Wish I was closer.

I grew up in Hartsville and today's chicken is nothing like the served say 15 years ago. They used to have a honey batter they coated the chicken in.They don't do that now. Don't get me wrong the chicken is very good, but at times it's hit and miss.Best time to go is when they open that way you get fresh chicken. My aunt and uncle tried to buy Yogi Bear and they wouldn't sell.My favorite thing to get is the fried chicken livers smothered in gravy and hot sauce lol 😆😂🤣 Here is a little more information about Yogi Bear, this is their second location, the first location was located about a quarter of a mile from the current location. It burned down and they built the new building. It was take out only,it was a small building and the lines on Sunday after church would be lined up to 5th street lol.Another the seafood is very good and they have the best cole slaw is the best I have eaten.I have bought a gallon at a time. Thank you for covering my hometown ❤svi

This is so cool! Loved the Yogi bear as a kid, hope to visit this place sometime :)
  • I've lived here most of my life and never knew the story behind it. I assumed there were others since it had to have gone through a hassle to get the naming rights but I didn't know it was the last one.

I’m in Hartsville right now. I’ve been coming to this spot since I was a kid. The way my older siblings and cuzos can go on and on about how the chicken isn’t the same. And honestly, it isn’t. The chicken used to be so finger licking good that you couldn’t wait to get home to eat, you had to dig your hands in the Boo Boo or Cindy Basket to get a taste.
