Thank you! This wasn't obvious at all in the crappy documentation that came with my Air. I'm now flying from the transmitter instead of my phone!

Dji..can i ask something?..is this link with wifi or with rc cabel??
  • Flash forward to July 2022-----> Thank you this method allowed me to finally connect my remote controller with the drone. 👍🏻
  • @SligStorm
For anyone having problems linking the controller, simply turn on the controller without your phone attached, make sure the DJI app isn't open. Then press the flashing yellow light on the back of the drone until it beeps once then turn on the controller hold the Pause, FN and the far right back button on the controller. The controller should start beeping. After a few seconds (with the phone not connected the controller and drone will pair with a green light on the controller and a green flashing light on the drone. Now connect your phone and connect to the drones WiFi which you can do by holding the button on the back of the drone until it beeps 3 times. Connect and enjoy. I do wish this process was made simpler though.

DJI do you know if the new Samsung S9+ will fit into the remote?
  • The biggest problem anyone is having is the fact this aircraft is labeled as being connected wifi. So upon purchasing, most people think they have to connect the wifi of their phone to the air craft for it to work. This leaves mass confusion because once connected to wifi, your controller is no longer connected. The reality is that the wifi connection method is for virtual controller ONLY. And that version of wifi is very limited in range. The correct way to connect this is to link the remote controller and then connect it to your mobile device via the USB cable, NOT WIFI. You then click enter device and view mode. You never actually connect your mobile device via wifi. Wifi is what they are calling the connection between the RC Controller and the Drone. The controller is the connection to the drone, and then your mobile device is only connected to the controller to transmit the app commands and the video signal. You don't even put your mobile device wifi on, unless you want a virtual controller and very limited range. It's probably one of the most stupid and confusing things in the world world, but i finally figured it out. I hope this helps someone.
  • @aldown
the remote controller doesn't start beeping
  • @markrich9524
This video really helped. The instructions from Manufacturer was not working. This was much easier.
  • @Pindi44
Useful tutorial, thanks. Does it mean I can fly the drone without needing a mobile phone and App?
  • @SirBeauJangles
So how come this is less automatic than the easy and painless linking done by the P4?Mine just DOES it. No buggering about with passwords or flashing button presses.Hard to see this as “progress”! Are all the Mavic series machines like this?

Hi, I'm a newbie with a question in regards to using the remote controller; I understand when the right joystick is pushed up with the camera facing you the Mavic Air will move away from you. If you pull down, it will come back to you. Left is left and right is right. Now my question; If the Mavic Air camera is away from you does the joysticks act in an opposite manner? Example; down is forward, up is back towards you, left is right, right is left? I can't find any info. on this anywhere. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you, Ray
