The Valvoline Advanced 5W30 Full Synthetic I put in at 4,500ish miles took away ALL of the valvetrain clatter, ticking, and rattling. Might as well go back with the same oil now at 10,500 miles. #ram1500 #trucks

I just bought 2024 Ram 1500 Limited. I want to thank you so much for your amazing information sir! I just changed my oil today she only had 850km on her. I put in 5W-30. I spent so much money on the truck, I did not want to take a chance on the "Hemi Tick" Thank you for your video! I truly appreciate it! Salute sir!

Been running 5w 30 in a 5.7 since 2013 , no tick . Done 130,000 km. Only problem so far was one exhaust manifold cracked at about 100,000 kms. I run Penrite 10 10ths racing oil , high zinc formula
  • The main problem with these Hemi’s is the splash oil system for the cam. Those head ports are horizontal not vertical which of course lets oil flow down faster than horizontal. Here is what I’ve learned tonight and in the last couple of days about these Hemi’s, especially the 6.4. 1. Splash oiling is a big problem at idle especially. 2. I’m changing to 5W-30 full synthetic. 3. I’m going to start putting a zinc additive in the oil. I’ll deal with the Catalytic Converter if needed later. 4. MDS we get turned off every time I drive the truck. It’s just a matter of mashing a button. 5. I am also thinking about adding Lucas oil stabilizer. I heard BG makes a good additive too.

Been running AMSOIL 5W-20 XL since I got my 2015 Ram 1500 5.7L. Now have 100200 miles and no issue. I change oil when computer says it’s time.
  • @patrickholt4140
I was always taught to do first oil change at 500 second at 1500 and then every 3,000 after
  • @Black_Gun_Control
You want your hemi to last you? Don’t wait until 5 thousand miles do it at 3
  • @AVRJEH
Thanks man for this info! I got a Hemi 5.7 that had the tick and - given my ignorance at the time - I took it into the Jeep, Ram dealership and spend a lot of money. If I had only known…
  • @BayouToad
My first oil change on my last two trucks have been at 1500 miles. Wanted to get the break in trash out and etc the Amsoil in.
  • I just hit 10,500 on my 2023 Rebel and I'm switching my oil to this. I hear the ticking so I'll give it a try thanks brother!

When I bought my new truck (2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4), I changed the oil to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5w-20 with a Mobil1 113A oil filter. I change every 5,000-6,000 miles. Truck currently has 120,000 miles and I have never had any ticks or knocking sounds. No noise whatsoever. I also just fill it up with shell gas only. 89 or 91 octane. I’m glad my truck is running smoothly with no noises and issues with the 5w-20. And I’m in a hot climate area, Houston.
  • @CaptTetanus
I did whatcha said, did my research and found like you said. They lied about their recommendations. I did the 5w30 oil change and now runs like an absolute badass. What I thought was an exhaust leak was actually the infamous Hemi Tick!
  • @DJackson1232
a higher capacity oil pump is what you need. that is the COMPLETE fix for hemi engines 2009 and up. oil weight doesnt matter. oil capacity does. theres just not enough pressure to oil the cam and lifters at idle and at low rpm speeds. a higher capacity oil pump increases pressure AND amount of oil to cover the top end. thats the only fix for these engines to eliminate the hemi tick
  • @mattd603
First oil change at 1000 miles max.
  • @robertwoods6856
I run 5W30 Full Syn in my 2020 Hemi Rebel. I ignore the computer and change it every 5000 miles. Now at 36,200 miles, no issues. Truck runs great, no hemi tick. Don't think the brand is critical, or even the weight, but the frequency is. All my vehicles, 5000 for oil.
  • @flicksifyr6793
I recommend checking out BND automotive’s “Quantum Blue” oil. The owner brian recommends 7.5w23 for the 5.7 hemi. After putting this stuff in i could notice a huge difference over the 5w20 ive been putting in there forever
  • @CDNGoMangoSRT
Yeah man, you can never change the oil too often. These high mileage factory recommended oil changes are ridiculous, completely designed to f'ck your engine.
  • @dnet8180
Faithfully use amsoil 5w20 and a wix filter (technically20,000 mile oil!) in my 300s awd hemi but I always change at 6000 even though oil looks new and use recommended mid grade gasoline engine is quiet and strong
