My Journey to Self Reliance

Published 2024-08-11
Working on becoming self reliant in the mountains. Check what Jackery can power with the 2000Plus on the Official Store (US Store: bit.ly/allybrownusa + CA Store: bit.ly/allybrownca ) and on Amazon bit.ly/3VqDKCs

This year I am practicing self reliance and how to become more independent as we renovate the homestead cabin up in the hills. This is just the start of a new chapter! Building composting bins from scratch, learning sewing, plant dyeing, essential oil making for my business and more. Looking forward to livestock soon to really get things going and be more self sufficient and sustainable.

What would be the first skill you’d learn for self reliance?
  • @ATC.Tigerlily
My jaw dropped with that opening scene! I can’t believe you caught a hawk in flight with your drone and so close! Amazing nature 🪷
  • I used to create independent internships for college students in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS. It was so rewarding to see them take on new challenges and feel like they were making a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. I truly enjoy your videos, and I hope more young adults follow your example and seek a self-fulfilling lifestyle as you have done.

I am so happy to see you trying all these old world self reliant ways. When I was young I taught these all to myself and my kids grew up with me doing these methods. I worked at an interactive outdoor Pilgrim museum and learned to dye from vegetables. I could see your self satisfaction in your face when something home made and natural comes to fruition. There is no feeling like it. I think a few generations missed out on so much by not experiencing that feeling. Keep it up. I hope you influence people to not let these survival experiences disappear. A tip for your compost. Find a coffee shop to save you grounds. Nothing heats up like coffee grounds or simple grass clippings!

Really enjoyed the video! ❤ The jackery looks like an awesome product. I will pass the word around and make sure whoever wants one uses your link with all the rain and storms and tornado activity in our area, and some people still without electricity. It sure would come in handy. Great job making the compost! 😊
