Worked the RC's at Offutt from 1989 - 2000. Great memories!

67 years ago one of these planes was downed when flying over the Soviet Union and its pilot, Gary Powers, was taken prisioner, the fact is that U2 planes died in a distant past... but all of a sudden you try to revive it?

Guarded these U-2 back in early 1971. McCoy AFB SAC, Orlando Florida. Every morning g at least once a week just before light, the ground crew would arrive pre- flight the plane...then at twilight the van would roll up beside plane and the unknown guy in the space suit would eventually get out carrying a box attached to his suit by a hose we all figured it a personal breathing box. Once in cockpitand hooked up the box went back into van. Later that day at sun set u-2 could be seen coming in for landing...the hangar had at least 2 aircraft in there. That post was interesting for grave yard shift. Got to walk around both aircraft...first time ever saw a zip lock baggie! The techs would remove a panel put all but one screw in bag then with last screw screw the bag to the frame so nothing would be misplaced or lost. Bet the ground crew pilfered those those zip loc bags for sandwich bags.... that U-2 was outstanding almost straight up after getting air borne. Landing was like a lazy glider...😊

전쟁을 막는 길은 화합과 단결이다. 뭉치면 위기를 이기고 흩어지면 파산되🎉🎉🎉

Esos u2 fueron rediseñados no solo para espiar ..también pueden portar una ojiva..🇺🇸

In 1984, during a NATO exercise, Flight lieutenant Mike Hale of the RAF intercepted a U-2 at a height which they had previously considered safe (thought to be 66,000 feet (20,000 m)). Records show that Hale also climbed to 88,000 ft (27,000 m) in his Lightning F. 3 XR749.

Wrote a paper in college about his shoot down! Was given the HANGER QUENN, before his flight and shotdown at an altitude way less than normal operational heights, a bit fishy!!!

Not the end of the universe, but the border with the universe.
