Whether or not Ukraine will see delivery of F-16s is anybody's guess but the fact of the matter is that the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway have pledged 66-71 planes in total, so it's a bit more than the 14 planes that are mentioned in this video.

About the F-16s: US is not planning to donate any F-16 to Ukraine. The donations that have been mentioned are for european countries and also they were produced in Europe, Belgium and Netherlands. So the US support is only to give permission to donate these planes to Ukraine and possibly spare parts supply. An Education center for F-16s is established in Romania and Denmark so the program is underway. About the A-10 Warthog it can do a good job if other planes, like F-16 do top cover and destroy or suppress enemy air defences!

I bet the USAF would LOVE to give Ukraine their A-10s. They've been screaming at Congress trying to get rid of them for more than a decade.

Didn't we already have this conversation about A-10's in Ukraine a couple years ago? The A-10 is not an aircraft meant for a theater without total air dominance. Sending them in right now would result in a lot of shot down A-10s. The F-16 fills their needs, both for air-to-air and air-to-ground in a single package.

I built a Revell model A-10 in the late '70s as a kid, so as an expert, I agree we need to keep the limited inventory of A-10's for the US unknown future conflicts. Also to Gonky's point they will take whatever is offered... We could offer a wing of Cessna 152's armed with deer rifles and a box if dynamite and they'd say "send it over...". Hmmm, could be effective....

Why would the F-16 last only 12 hours while Ukraine still has some of their airplanes? You'd think any airplanes in Ukraine are priority 1 targets and yet, They are still flying.
  • Ukraine is doing so well against ground and armored forces with drones that I don't see risking their limited numbers of pilots with A-10s. To me, that's a larger problem for them than parts-- which is also not an inconsequential issue.

Surprisingly, this conversation showed a total lack of interest or an utter misunderstanding of current Ukrainian capabilities and needs. It's the same attitude that leads our beloved Speaker to demand a "strategy" from Ukraine when a key component of any military strategy, "means," is a total unknown thanks to the House's failure to act.

I can't really see how A10 could be important for Ukraine right now, or in the future. As you said, Ukraine would need air superiority before they could use A10 effectively. 30mm, JDAM's and laser guided munitions are not any good if enemy SAM's and fighters shoot you down before reaching the target. To be honest, A10 is quite outdated concept for a conflict like this. A10 is a fan favourite, but brrrrrrt alone doesn't win wars.

Surely it'd make more sense to give A-10s to countries with Su-25s, and have those countries give the Su-25s to Ukraine? Ukraine already has experience and infrastructure setup for those.

I’m from Holland They will get a16. From us, from denmark. We train them currently. A10 is no go: first u need air superiority. Getting their awacs is good couple days ago. Not valid: they moved patriots over night
  • They were expected to drop like flies during the fulda gap fight as well.
  • @HeavensGremlin
A slow a/c in a hight-threat environment...??? Naaa.... No way.
  • @brianwright9514
How long to get the A-6 fleet up and running from the boneyard? How about F-111's? These guys need terrain following radar and side-by-side seating!
  • @matsv201
The F16 is not comming from usa, but from europe. There been around 100 pledge. They just need the F35 to replace them. Norway can probobly send 20 F16 alreddy to day. The neterlands a few also. And Denmark can send some probobly by the end of the year.

Imagine learning your side is getting A-10s and you're serving in british equipment. Sweaty situation.
