Exploring the Abandoned PA Turnpike. Join me as I venture down an abandoned portion of America's first superhighway. Abandoned in 1968 when a bypass was built to avoid congestion in two tunnels, this 13 mile stretch of abandoned highway just sits waiting to be explored.

  • I don’t normally comment on YouTube videos, but I found this one very intriguing. There is something fascinating about abandoned locations and these kinds of videos are ones I watch frequently. Great work on this video! I especially like the music choice as it gives the videos a more eerie feel.

Yikes...I would never, never go in there. Good job you!

I wish you had inclided how you accessed the area as far as where to park and how to get to it.

Its sad to see that an abandoned place becomes a trash dump to teenagers.

I love your videos! I'm a Pennsylvania-native living elsewhere so it's great to see some of the cool spots of the state you seem to find :)
  • Done the tunnels a couple of times in winter and summer very cool experince

A few years back, my son and I rode our bikes to the first tunnel just outside of Breezewood. Didn't go all the way through it as we had no flashlights and it was dark inside. No idea of who or what was lurking in the depths of the tunnel! We did explore around the opening including the back rooms. Quite a thrill going there.
  • Use to love driving thru them way back when. It was great

Very interesting video, thanks for taking us there 👍

Really interesting video! I keep telling myself I should make my way out to here!
  • WTH! The whole side door has been knocked down on the Eastern portal of Sideling Hill. People are animals. I know that didn't just fall out by itself. Those doors and framework were solid.
  • My brother and his friends investigated the top of one of those with friends when he was 18 and almost got hurt doing it

These abandoned PA turnpike tunnels are cool to explore. They're owned by Pike 2 Bike and are open for biking and hiking. I live close to these and go there quite often. You mentioned it feels like and apocalyptical video game which is why the Rays Hill Tunnel portion was used in the post-apocalyptic survival film, The Road with Viggo Mortensen.
  • The East portal of Sideling Hill tunnel is my favorite place to visit and hang out when I went there in the past. I have videos starting in March 2013 up to 2019 on my You Tube channel. There was alot less graffiti back then compared to now. I really enjoyed your Abandoned PA Turnpike video.
