  • You start a raid so high up the raiders realise that there is no village and just leave in confusion
  • @ontimous1126
I think the pillagers saw you 112 blocks up and decided that maybe the raid wasn’t worth it anymore.
  • @ivycomb
Such is the life cycle of minecraft updates
  • @SemiHypercube
I don't know if you've already heard this, but today on Bedrock they finally changed the name of "Enchantment Table" to "Enchanting Table" finally putting the debate to rest
  • @Dzekin
it's still funny that with this ominous bottle, we've circled back to the good, old days of rpgs where you were just consuming the potions - what happens with the bottle afterwards? you consume it together with the potion? it magically despawns? you just throw it out? Your choice. Personal head-canon is that Steve, being Steve, just eats the bottle like it's no problem for him (like in that one Viva La Dirt League sketch about potions)
  • This is how I think ominous bottles work: Imagine you stole your alchoholic dad's beer. Now replace the dad with pillagers and beer with the ominous bottle. It's obvious the illagers are alcoholics and ominous bottles are their vice
  • Raids before 1.21: Kill illager captain so they get mad and follow you into a village where you have to defend it Raids after 1.21: Kill illager captain and drink bottle inside village, intentionally bringing the illagers into the village so you can pretend to be a hero for cheap trades.

0:09 "this probably wont surprise you" yes peenix im not surprised by anything you say anymore
  • @ARegularPersom
"What are you going to do, stare at me in mid-air? "Breaking news! Pillagers discover the technology of breaking the laws of physics!"
  • @TheCappuccino04
If we're looking in terms of how bad omen works in-universe, I'd argue the mechanic is less "drink the bottle and they get mad" and more "drink the bottle and you're imbued with a curse/omen that makes certain aspects of the world more dangerous," like the illagers you just killed finding your location and retaliating as for why the captain had that substance on him to begin with i have no idea but that's my view on how it works anyway
  • @AdiDK
Tbh I think the way it used to be was kinda weird. You kill a pillager captain which makes the pillagers mad, but they only retaliate once you'd enter a village? Why not just immediately? I think it would be cool if the pillager captain dropped a special goat horn, that when used in a village, would signal to the pillagers your location and bring them to you. Doesn't just have to be a goat horn, it could also just be some type of item that's made to signal your location, like a flare gun or a magic mirror or something. In my opinion it would make way more sense for the pillager captain to have an item that signals to the other pillagers their current location, and I also think it'd be cool that like, YOU, brought the pillagers to the village, just to kill them, which is basically what you did before anyway, but this time more directly.

1:05 you know what could actually make this kind of work lore-wise? Lets say that its a potion that's just really valuable to them, so you drink it, that means they cant have it. Also add in a mechanic where pillagers will agro you at an even further range than usual if you have a bottle in your inventory, and botaboom batabang it actually makes sense.
  • @Kickiusz
So now you basically just stage an attack to pretend to be a hero who saved everybody. Isn't that the same as zombifying the villager only to cure him? Didn't Mojang hate that mechanic for teaching bad morals or something?
  • @artgvdcffvf2990
I always thought that after you killed the raid captain they where following you until you got to a village and then they attacked. instead of it just a coincidence that they happen to raid the village when you get there
  • @edwinmaster7326
getting the bad omen effect worked so well because it implied they were following you and waiting to retaliate
  • @yawerawais8115
I always thought of the bad omen effect as the pillager’s death cursing you and now the curse is simply in a bottle
