Learn how to sign the American Sign Language (ASL) alphabet! This video breaks down your ABCS super simple and there are three simultaneous views for clarification. This was heavily requested, so I hope this is helpful and educational. This is the alphabet in American Sign Language (ASL), the sign language in the United States, please remember sign language is NOT universal and there are over 300 sign languages around the world.

I don't really plan on teaching with this channel as you should watch teaching Deaf professionals, but my Dad requested this so enjoy.

Disclaimer* there is a lot of debate about how E is signed. Many people teach E requiring your fingertips to touch your thumb. This is uncomfortable if your thumb is double-jointed, you have joint issues or have long nails. There is lots of variation, for example, you may notice my hand-shape shift to a taller position for comfort. I recommend you sign it in the way that is most comfortable for you :)

I don’t know anyone who is deaf, but I’ve always wanted to be a sign language interpreter. This is awesome!
  • I'm not deaf and don't know anybody who is deaf, but for some reason I watched this video and practiced the alphabet with you. Now I can spell out fluently and would like to truly learn asl just for curiosity and appreciation to this beautiful culture and community that I haven't had the opportunity to meet yet (but hope to do someday!) Thank you for being a wonderful person. Loved the video and you ❤

Came here from the "then do it" tik tok. My asl has fallen out of practice and am really trying to get it back to help with customers. Thanks for always reminding me of the need for inclusivity and accessibility

Thank you!! We started with baby sign when my daughter was 8 months. We now use it to help her recognize letters. She used ASL to communicate until she was about 24 months. Now she uses both speech and sign. You are amazing! I am continuing to learn to hopefully become an interpreter in the future. You are amazing!!

Thank you so much for this! My daughter is 3 years old and her best friend from church has hearing problems. We are going to learn sign language together so she and her friend can communicate.

This has brought up so many emotional memories with my mother and I. After she lost her ability to talk from cancer we started using sign language with the basic alphabet to communicate better. I haven’t used it much sense she passed but thanks to you I have a renewed interest in relearning It. Thank you for your time and effort in helping those of us that wish to learn. 🙏

I think I'll be watching this a few time to get it in my memory. It's good to learn from some one who uses signing everyday.

I also don't know anyone that is deaf, but this felt amazing, and now at least I have a chance when I meet someone deaf! I could do these so much more Chrissy! Would you do more? I would love to keep practicing spelling words, those were my favorite part when you understand them it's AMAZING! Thankyou for this 💚 and have a blessed day 😊

I wanna thank you for how interactive and fun this video was. I've watched many ASL alphabet videos and yours was like my favorite ever! You gave us the alphabet so many times after each letter and then going at different speeds, then practicing finger spelling (which I'm always terrified to do with a deaf person cause I feel like I do too slow and they're going to hate me) and overall super fun and made it easier to remember. You're great!

I don't know anyone who is deaf. I have wanted to learn sign language to be able to communicate with deaf people. It is a beautiful language.

I go to a public high school in Utah, we have an ASL program at my school and we have about 2,000 students total, and 400 of those students are in the ASL program. There is only one person in my ASL class who has deaf family. Nobody in my class is deaf. Anyways Chrissy, I thought you would enjoy that notion. ❤️ily

This is really great! I once had a deaf homeless person try and ask for directions, and I wasn't very helpful. This reminds me to learn and practice the alphabet, so I can sign with anyone!

I work at a medical clinic and I'm already the only one who can help our French patients. I'm hoping i'll be able to help our hard of hearing ones as well now!

Thank you for taking the time to teach!! I keep mixing up my G’s and H’s… and my P’s and F’s (I don’t know why, please god don’t ask me how) and it finally clicked ❤

When I was a kid my aunt started teaching me ASL. I finally dove back into learning it a couple of weeks ago and this video has become a part of my daily routine 👍🏻
