6/29/24: Beryl to Become the Earliest Major Hurricane on Record to Hit the Windward Islands

Published 2024-06-29
Residents of the Windward Islands need to prepare for the worst as Beryl is set to intensify very rapidly into a major hurricane over the next 24-48 hours, in an area that rarely sees hurricanes before August. St. Vincent and the Grenadines are most as risk, but other locations that could be impacted include Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, Tobago, and then Hispaniola, Cuba, and Jamaica. In addition, another storm could follow a few days later, and a disturbance moving into the Bay of Campeche could develop into a depression or storm.
