The move brings to an end a hugely successful two-year stay at the Etihad for the Argentine striker who joined City from River Plate in 2022.
During his time at the Club, the 24-year-old made 103 appearances in all competitions, registering 36 goals and helping City to secure six major trophies.
In the 2022/23 campaign, his maiden season at City, Alvarez was to make an immediate impact as Pep Guardiola’s side secured an historic and iconic Treble.

He will definitely be missed. City have always been a great partner to the Argentine players (what drew me to city) and Julian had the chance to really be a long time legend. Can't fault his desire to play every game as the #1 option. He earned his pay these last few years.

What a player, somebody like him just can't be replaced. To much quality and talent, even a good luck charm. Unfortunately he couldn't fit in the starting 11 so he wants to fit at the Wanda. Thank you for everything Julian. You always be remembered, La Arana.
