What can I say, it’s the AWM..

Actually it’s a step better as it’s the AWSM (acronym for ‘awesome’ (jk, but it should be)). The AWSM is the AWM’s big brother.

Below is a handy guide for the AW family
AI = Accuracy International, the company that designed and makes these rifles
AW = Arctic Warfare, the family that makes up multiple rifles in different calibers. The standard AI AW is a .308 rifle.
AWM = Arctic Warfare Magnum, referring to the model of AW rifle that is chambered in .300WM
AWSM = Arctic Warfare Super Magnum, reffing to the model of AW rifle chambered in .338LM

Fun fact:
A British sniper held the world record for the longest confirmed kill for quite some time (eventually a Canadian blew it out of the water) with the AWSM. It was 2475 meters. It took the bullet approx 6 seconds to travel that distance, and required compensation for bullet drop of almost 400 feet.

This is a beautiful rifle and I am lucky to have it in my collection at this time. This is a 2007 production gun with a British military fluted barrel. It is formally known as the L115. Mine is the later “A3” model with folding stock and 2 chamber threaded muzzle brake. The A3 also saw a switch from the traditional Parker Hale bipod to the new Harris bipod. I preferred the Parker Hale, but alas, the Parker Hale can still be installed on this rifle.

These were traditionally outfitted with a Schmidt & Bender PMii scope with several ranges, either 3-12, 4-16, or 5-25. While originally designed for optimal performance in subzero Arctic conditions, the upgraded .338LM rifle was fielded in the Afghanistan and subsequent wars in the Middle East. It was brought forth as part of Britain’s improved sniping program. Where other countries were outfitting snipers with .308’s or .300wm’s, Britain was the first to jump up to .338LM, a round capable out to 2500meters and beyond. It was used as a part of a two man crew. One would have the L115A3, and another would have the L129 (LMT MWS .308 semi auto AR10).

Hope you enjoyed my video. Please see my others. In total there are 4 for the AWM

The British soldier was Craig Harrison. He also took out the machine gun that the tali had set up too I believe. He has a book and has done some videos with LadBible recently where he talks about his time serving and the struggles after retiring.
  • Hey, Arm, long time subscriber, I gotta tell you I love your vids. So informative and so well done, keep it up brother.

How did you not mention counter strike?! You're killing me smalls!

You sounded pretty low and off in this video. Hope all's well. Love your work btw keep em coming.
  • What did the whole setup cost you? I'm looking at buying one right now but I have no idea how fair the sellers price is, these are so rare to come by.

Serious question. Does the folding stock rattle/have some slight play once locked into the fully deployed position? I've always wondered about the tolerances of folding stocks as i imagine it would be very hard to manufacture one with zero looseness/play Thanks!
