  • As an American, it is reassuring to know that Finland is on watch in the cold waters of the region. Brothers in arms!
  • This situation is of serious gravity. I was impressed with the level of expertise, ships, equipment, attention to detail, and resources on demand. Thank you, I enjoyed watching from here in the US. Exceptionally well done!
  • @SubVet84
That Norwegian ship has a lot of open space. No US Navy ship would ever look like that. The designers would consider it wasted space and put more equipment in it, and then paint everything gray!
  • Very impressive Royal Norwegian Navy and NATO activities. Hope we have the same action in the Bering and Chukchi Seas. We are only 36 miles from the enemy. At one point only a small strip of ice separates Big Diomede from Little Diomede. Wonderful to see the professionalism of the NATO vessels and sailors. Brava!
  • I feel like my life has rewound to 1980. It's like the cold war never went away.

As a Norwegian, I'm really happy to see the positive comments here regarding Norway and the Nordics in general. God bless the USA, and I hope NATO will continue to be such a strong shield against agression from the Eurasian steppes, that have attacked into Europe for century after century.

Also: Did you know that there's just as many Norwegian-Americans in USA (specially in what used to be the former Montana Territory), as there is here in Norway?

From Alv, and my cat Lucis, in Bergen, Norway.

As a U.S. Navy enlisted man in the 70's who spent his watch time on the bridge of a frigate and later in life, a "hawse piper", one who worked his way up from below decks on tugs and supply boats to the wheel house to become eventually a master of his own vessel, I have got to say, I am one jealous captain of the overall condition of that Norwegian Patrol Ship, particularly the command bridge/wheel house area. And the berthing accommodations, galley and lounge area, rivals those found on high dollar expeditionary charter cruise vessels... I know for a fact that there are standing U.S. Navy Captains commanding ships right now that would be envious of that double stateroom that Tom Costello was staying in while visiting...

The inside of a Norwegian warship looks like a cruise ship. I bet their navy has an excellent retention rate.

I was anti-sub warfare aircrew (ASW) in the US Navy. Back then, the Soviets were our chief concern. I know well what Russia is capable of, regarding ASW. Most all of Russia's subs are upgraded versions of the subs I used to hunt in the Cold War. It is good that NATO takes Russian submarine capabilities extremely seriously. I also have no doubt that the NATO ASW capabilities are more than capable of effectively confronting the Russian submarine threat.

Very cool! Its good that they are working so hard to protect this area.
  • What’s crazy is how many people have no idea that any of this is going on.
  • @njpme
Norwegian ship looks like a resort in comparison to American warships. Great standard of living
  • My great grandfather came from Oslo Norway to the USA and Founded Yankton South Dakota
  • 11:23 That's the Norwegian frigate HNoMS Thor Heyerdahl (F314), built in Spain. Very nice stylish wood trim and flooring inside!

A last comment: I'm so glad our NATO partners understand the importance of the oil and gas reserves we have here, in addition to the cables connecting the largest satelite base in the world, at Svalbard, that the Russians have already disrupted, among an unknown number of others, going to Britain and further on to USA, and how we all cooperate in defending these vital resources for our western civilization. Hoping to see more documentaries from the Northern Territories, that we used to be alone in defending here in Norway, and also Iceland was our responsibility, but now also Finland have joined us (!!!) and I hope also soon Sweden (perhaps USA can help put some pressure on Turkey, as this is the only thing that delay that very strong army to also be part of NATO? Turkey just refuse to realize that Sweden have Kurdish POLITICAL REFUGEES, that the Turks call "terrorists"...) Thank you again. 🙂
  • @russmaddoxak
Could the Russians be dropping instruments to mark targets for future strikes? Like beacons of some sort?
  • @ArnetPhotography
This is the type of informative reporting we need, thank you NBC.
