One of, if not THE most difficult IL in all of The Phantom Pain.

An S-Rank, Perfect Stealth / No Kills speedrun of Episode 45: A Quiet Exit in 4:21.23

This was something I've wanted to do for a long time and just never got around to it. This is the route used by Siete in his record nearly FIVE years ago now. I could probably devote a whole tutorial on just this mission, but right now I'm not sure if I'd get around to it.

Here's some notes for anyone who would like to attempt to beat this, just in case I never make any guide:

• I used the fatigues to be cool and to stay on par with Siete. Combat armor will certainly help avoid losing some good runs to deaths.

• When you jump off D-Walker to plant the second set of mines, you can get him to land on the rocks.

• The path I took to trigger the prisoner cutscene I believe is the fastest. If you mess around with it enough you'll notice how much of Miller's dialogue you can skip depending on where you trigger the cutscene.

• While not mandatory, I do recommend trying to get the no-lock-on shot on the chopper. While it likely won't save any time, the chopper can take a long time to crash if you get unlucky. The fight doesn't end until all the enemy vehicles explode, which means the chopper has to crash before the fight is completed.

• I used the max rank online development CGM launcher, but the grade 6 that you can get in the base game will do the trick. While the upgraded one is technically stronger that really doesn't come into play for this mission. The advantage that this one DOES have is in its ammo count allowing you the potential to take out an additional tank or two before you have to pick up the supply drop.

• While I can't say it with 100% certainty, I believe that your positioning has some effect on the tanks that spawn in. What I mean specifically is this; towards the end before I go to shoot down the chopper, I spend some time running in circles. There is a tank that is supposed to spawn on top of some mines that I placed previously in the street at the start of the mission. What I found was if I left this spot too quickly, that tank would usually not get destroyed. I don't know how long you should wait in that spot or how far you can go, but it does seem like you need to slow down slightly so as to avoid that tank spawning in such a way that it avoids the mines. Additionally, I tried a strategy where I would try to do the entire fight from the center hill to avoid having to run across the map, but I found that neither of the tanks that spawn on the north road would get destroyed by the mines if I did.

Glad you’re still playing this game, I love how many different ways to complete a mission, and your speed runs are killer.
  • this mission is a fucking joke, 2 hours in and im still trying. the tanks and helicopters are buffed. I CANT GET OUT OF THIS MISSION
  • That was a horrible speed run. It would be more fun if you collect the tanks and try to make it more challenging.
