  • Just like Mustaine, Chuck picked amazing players. From Human on is really great. I love the old Death albums but Human for me is when Death really found their sound.
  • I love Death was aware of them in 90s but didn't really hear how great until I was older. His vocals aren't as harsh as other Death metal but also the playing is so freaking good. My favorite Death metal band of all time I do like all the albums. Great video!
  • Death are easily in the top 10 of greatest extreme metal bands of all time and for me they are in the top 5 along with Carcass...

Exploring Death's discography has been a blast. The Philosopher is probably my favorite Death song. I had a few "Aha!" moments that were pretty fun. The album Leprosy seemed to influence melodeath and/or melodic metalcore that would come later, and Scream Bloody Gore seems to have popularized gorey shock lyrics in death metal.

Just from this retrosepctive alone, I'm defintiely going to check these guys out. I've never listened to these guys before but just from the clips alone with how they sound, I think I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this band ngl. šŸ¤˜šŸ» Also, great video btw! Can't wait to see more of these retrosepctives and learn more about the other bands you have in mind. šŸ”„šŸ–¤

As to the Kiss thing, I'm not really a fan either but God of thunder is one of the few kiss songs I like and Death killed that cover. The opening guitar riff sounds so good. PS: F yeah, Crystal mountain. One of my favorite songs to play on guitar

Human and Symbolic are contenders for best metal albums of all time

Evil Dead goes so hard. Cancer really sucks.

Love the more metal focused direction this channel is heading. At 2:15 you mention that death and possesed are the bands that are cited as inventors of death metal. You are forgetting about necrophagia, the band who released their season of the dead debut album 3 months before scream bloody gore. I believe necrophagia deserves more respect towards shaping the more nasty gorey side of death metal. Fun fact: Phil Anselmo played the guitars in necrophagia when they were reformed in the late 90s with only the original singer remaining (Frank Pucci, killjoy, who passed away in 2018)
  • Death has easily been my favorite band for years. Great video. Is the 8-bit outro Heartwork?
  • @devil_pls
Thank you for this Video! I just recently started to listen to some Death for the first time. Really a great overview that you gave here.
  • Fantastic video. I've been a huge fan of this band since high school. I even learned how to play the intro to Evil Dead on the trombone. Nice to see other people who love this band as much as I do. Also unrelated but those 8bit covers of Cannibal Corpse in the background are amazing.

Death is really the best metal band of all time.. If you give any single one of this man Chuckā€™s songs to someone, they will find something that blows their mind, Voice of the Soul and Without Judgement are by far my favorites. Thank you for this! If you enjoy Death I canā€™t say youā€™ll find much like it but Iā€™d say Carcass and Napalm Death are definitely worth your while!

Fun fact, some songs on Death's TSOP is not even written for Death. Moment of Clarity, Bite The Pain, Voice Of The Soul, Story To Tell, and I forgot the other one but those were originally Control Denied songs and on their Deluxe Reissue they have Story To Tell and A Moment Of Clarity 1996 demos with clean vocals over them so if you wanna see how it sounded for CD, then check those out. And yeah they never put out a bad album or song I can listen to their whole discography and not skip a song.
