Stavros Meets Dali in the Cane Fields

Your train comes down from Brisbane
you drag the sun up off the floor
and your bodies burning at the altar
bruised battered and sore

And you hang like a picture
sugar for the poor
before I left they called me lucky
but now Im not so sure

cause there’s no time for dreams or pictures
when you fled a bloody war
just cut down the cane fields
till you fall down to the floor

and at night they burn every trace
of the man that came before
as they burn down the cane fields
they burn so much more

My mind has seen this picture
my souls been here before
I walked a million miles
for a crazy Salvador

Your train comes down from Brisbane
and her frame falls from the wall
and time stands still in that painting
where the clocks melt to the floor

elephants come riding
across a sandy Nullarbor
im not sure if Im dreaming
but I think they're about to fall

cause there’s no time for dreams or pictures
when you fled a bloody war
just cut down the cane fields
till you fall down to the floor

And at night they burn every trace
of the man that came before
as they burn down the cane fields
they burn so much more

My mind has seen this picture
my souls been here before
I walked a million miles
for a crazy Salvador
