An introvert might not even be aware of gossip in the workplace or of any incidents in the workplace because they are just so focused on themselves and their work

“80% of you are somewhere in the middle” - Dr. K People need to realise that.

This makes a lot of sense but so many people think it's only about staying inside/going outside 😭😭😭

Most people confuse being outgoing or shy with being extro or intro. I'm an outgoing introvert, I have no problem chatting with random strangers who take a Lyft ride in my car and I like meeting new people, but my idea of the perfect weekend is staying home and working on my hobbies. I also know of shy extroverts who are quiet and don't talk much but they don't want to go to the gym by themselves, they want a buddy to go with them; or when they do talk it's all about trips they're going on to visit people, or who they had lunch with the other day.

to me people use extrovert and introvert to mean a whole host of stuff, and these things aren't all necessarily exclusive to either category. public speaking, being in crowds, being energetic, how they recharge, volume, etc. i've met people with any combination of these traits(and their opposites), so its not really easy to categorize most people in either. they also tend to fluctuate with mood or throughout life in general.

Yep. I thought I was an introvert, turns out I was just extroverted with unsolved mental trauma.

So yeah I'm a perfect description of an introvert because I'm non-stop in la-la land. Like the second you stopped talking to me. I am in space 🚀

Good thing there are no gossips in my workplace. Then again, i rarely talk with my colleagues at work

Guess that sort of checks out for me at my previous job. I hardly know any gossip till my colleagues I'm friends with start talking about it around me and then they get surprised that I wasn't aware of said gossip. 😅

T’is I, a random personality theory enjoyer, and I say that that was a fairly accurate description! We talk less about “social” extraversion and introversion in personality theory like MBTI, and more about the direction of your cognitive processes — inward versus outward. Though Big 5 theory does try to cover the social extraversion spectrum.

I would like to provide a counter point. I am introverted in almost every situation. I am also in a leadership position. I am very screwed and effected by work place gossip. Mostly because i end up having to deal with the effects of that gossip. So i have to pay attention to it despite not enjoying it.

I went to one of those work seminars that did the meyers Briggs personality test on us. The said extroverts seek validation from other people, introverts seek validation from procedure manuals and research. I was like, of course we do. Procedure manual doesn’t LIE to us!

Way too many people on the internet these days confuse being an introvert with having a mental illness.
  • @ashVGF
I'm an introvert, and my attention easily goes to gossip if its happening around me, but i dont prticipate
  • @spike315
My entire life, I've thought I was an introvert but I realize now that I was actually an extrovert with social anxiety — wild
