Blue Beetle was basically the first new DCU film. James Gunn said so himself but did say that the universe officially starts with Superman.

The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker Season One (minus the Justice League cameo) and Blue Beetle can all work into Gunn’s new shared universe as they feel disconnected enough from what came before and could acts as preludes to what is to come

I actually kinda want to see Blue Bettle animated. I LOVED what they did with him in Young Justice, So I cannot wait to see what James Gun has planned for him.

Cool to see Xolo is gonna return in the DCU I don't remember any DCEU references in his solo movie so it could be canon.

When I read that article I read it as they aren’t going to reboot ( tell the same story) and instead tell a new story that builds on the movie.

I am kinda happy about this. The only other places he could have shown up were booster gold and or teen titians, be he wouldnt have been in the spot light in either. Also making it animated means that they can do the more wild stuff they couldnt do in a live action Tv show due to budget
