NOTE FROM TED: Research around psychedelics remains an emerging field of study. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give organizers are described in more detail here: storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelin…

Nick Glynos is pursuing a doctoral thesis at the University of Michigan, focused on the function and regulation of endogenous DMT in the mammalian brain. Currently, he is the president of Student Association for Psychedelic Studies, which works to cultivate a space to discuss the growing body of research on therapeutic uses of psychedelics and related political, ethical, and PODS (privilege, oppression, diversity, and social justice) issues. He is also the co-founder of the Psychedelic Neuroscience & Therapy (PNT), a UM-funded organization with a mission to foster scholarship, interest, and discussion of psychedelic science and therapy. Nick is tremendously passionate about leveraging psychedelics research to unlock the secrets of human consciousness. He holds an Associate of Science from Flathead Valley Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science from Cornell University. Psychedelics have the ability to induce profound altered states of consciousness.

Upon my first shroom trip, my depression disappeared overnight. It shifted my perspective on the way I viewed myself. It showed me that I was stuck in one way of thinking. This was unhealthy mentally and it was affecting me physically. Within 6 months of the trip, my chronic lower back pain disappeared, I'm sure it was due to tension and stress, and hasn't returned. I haven't been seriously sick since then and that was just about 3 years ago from the time of this writing. The oneness and awareness of the self within the psychedelic experience provides a wonderful opportunity to reset and shift your mental position for the better if used constructively and intentionally in the right mindset (of healing, forgiveness, and love) and setting (a comfortable and safe place, I recommend being outside in nature). Thank you for reading and know that there is more to you than you may think. This is a beautiful life and you may as well enjoy it for the brief time we're here.
  • Psychedelic therapy is just one of those great leaps in the mental health space. It’s wonderful and the fact they serve recreational use and health as well. Can’t say I don’t trip once in a while.

Psychedelics have definitely changed my life and the way I perceive reality in many ways. My conclusion love is the ultimate power. And live life and everyday to the fullest.

DMT and Psychedelics in general have done what hundreds of hours of PTSD therapy couldn’t. I went from being on 31 pill daily for mental states to 0 over the course of 13 weeks. Like everything in the world. It’s not for everyone and experiences will certainly vary. Me and my friends approached it from a lens of healing and learning and it’s exactly what we got out of it. Love!
  • Every time while 'coming down' from DMT I would think to myself: This is what I forgot when I was born.

So are y’all ready to unblock Graham Hancock‘s Ted talk on psychedelics or ???

My personal experience with DMT, I was literally taken into another dimension, time was stretched, i was aware that i was dead. At this moment as youre reading this you are aware that you are alive, whilst on DMT you are friken aware that youre dead. Time was almost endless, when i got up after 15minutes i thought i had been gone for millenniums. I did hear beings telling me its ok, not to fear that they are with me, no i did not see them. After that trip i knew what another dimension meant, you cannot make sense of it there are too many things to grasp, your senses are all intertwined. I was part of everything i could feel everything. Please be aware DMT is not an easy thing to experience it is incredibly overwhelming.
  • Wonderful to see a young man who is so smart and normal speaking out for psychedelics and mentioning pioneer Dr. Grof.

Slowly but surely this is becoming more known and accepted. I've known about this for years and people still think I'm strange when I talk about it, like I'm making it up or am an advocate of getting wasted! Psychedelics can definitely heal the mind. Like all drugs though it isn't for everyone.
  • the fact that ted and youtube actually let this slip through is so awesome. Can’t wait to see this renaissance unfold in my lifetime...this is my most hopeful thing to have happen.

You can always see the people that have had that experience. It’s all in the eyes I hear it in your voice trying to keep it together life is beautiful!
  • @cyprokka
Dmt is by the far the most interesting psychedelic.
  • I was saying it for long time now. Psychadelics, meditation / spirituality and science together is the fastest way forward for human development as a whole. Human apes decided owning material stuff is far more important. What a sad story…

Thank you for spreading the word Nick; I see so many friends suffering in their "ordinary" consciousness when the key to freedom of awareness is at hand; this is very frustrating and many taboos and disinformations still have to be erased. The goal of Life is awareness and Love and you give us both. Thank you again. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

DMT is definitely the best trip I’ve ever had. Was really amazing!

My experience with DMT was similar to what William James stated. Rather than machine elves, I was communicating with my own brain (without words, more through a feeling that had definite meaning), as if it was an entity separate from myself. It was saying "look at what I can do". I interpereted the experience as my brain showing me its raw code. The home screen. It can load and play different forms of consciousness similar to the way a computer can switch from playing one game to another. We're just stuck with this game for now.
