Wow Fascinating! I flew Korean Air in 1987, back then no one knew if it would survive(back then)!

Why does this merger needs approval from the US ?
  • @Evil.Totoro
Sad if it happens. Every country should have more than one major international airline to foster competition. I live in Japan, and love how ANA and Japan airlines are always trying to out do each other. As a result, both are 5 star airlines now.
  • So, when's the pricecincrease, Korean Airline's tickets have long been higher than Asiana Airline's tickets, as far as I know?
  • @hanj31
I don't want it to get approved. I want it to get rejected. I want access to both alliances and earn miles with both airlines

Monopoly equals to lack of competition which equals to price guoging which equals to poor service which equals to coruption and fewer jobs.
  • @tjr4459
I hope the US rejects it. The last thing the traveling public needs is more mergers with less options.
  • @JonathanStanley
Korean-Asiana will actually have quite a large fleet of total A380s... more than British Airways or Singapore Airlines...

On your follow up one way or another, PLEASE explain why America have to approve this! Its them, their airline, their wants and needs. Who are we to say? I personaly don't care one way or another. I just love aircraft.

I'm hoping that the US will give the approval for the merger especially since the other 13countries have given their approval for the merger. I should've guessed that the current administration would be the ones who are responsible for stopping the merger. Hopefully there's a new administration who would approve of the merger. Maybe the US should be kicked out so they won't be the ones holding all the control when the others have approved the merger.

In this video, the pronunciation of Asiana Airlines could be better, what you hear is more Asiana Rail Lines than Asiana Airlines. So confusing. Your brain has to connect the dots via a detour because of the badly spoken airline name.

Dear "DJ", while your info in general is always interesting, your video streams .... err .... suck! Most of the footage is mostly completely unrelated to the topics discussed, while any graphical support of e.g. numbers, fleet sizes, geographical references etc. are missing. Investing a little bit of time using simple office tools would vastly improve your work, and I think more of your audience would appreciate it. Thanks!
