Is this enough to bring you back to Starfield, or do you still need something more? Personally, I'm really itching for that rover.

3:40 the map doesn't actually show the whole generated landing area; it only shows a certain distance from the player, so it is always centered on them. So if you move far away from your ship, it'll eventually be out of the map area.

Ironically, the previous map system did actually show the edges of the explorable area.

Actually, the map doesn't show entire tile and it expands (or more accurately: moves) when the player goes far enough. I also heard that they made generated region larger, probably in preperation for the new vehicle.

frankly, the ship interior decoration stuff seems pointless to me without the ability of determining the layout of doors and ladders. It also begs the question: If you edit your ship in any way after placing decorations, will it still reset all of those decorations? That's always been the number 1 reason I never bothered to decorate, because it would all be undone if I make even a slight edit to the ship.

The map is centered on you. The map doesn't show everything once you land. When you move towards the edges, the map moves to reveal more. So the map is actually bigger than what is currently being shown. But maybe it would be better if they have feathering in the edges and not super sharp and straight cut.

I know it's a very different game but I just got back into X4 and god DAMN that game is amazing now.

I did want to get back into Starfield and this honestly feels like it gives another reason to give it another playthrough. Thanks Morph!

Empty modules should be cheaper given the cost of creating items. And yes, the coffee machine next to the Pilot chair is a valuable addition.

The tile size on the map is just the loaded area not the full range per dev in the trailer.

I think that loading cutscenes (e.g. warping between planets, landing, etc) would be a great addition to combat the loading screen bs.

Can you make more videos of you just decorating interiors on ships and bases? Idk why, it felt really calming watching you set up that room and I really liked the aesthetic. Maybe even add in lofi music when you do lol

I really like the lore and the idea of starfield, and realistically speaking this is their first crack at a space game. They nailed the atmosphere of having that old NASA look to everything, but it does feel like fallout with a Skin on it. Hopefully they don't give up on the series, and they create a Sequel that addresses a lot of these issues.

But do they have Master Modes? 😅

Regarding the map, I'm fairly sure the map doesn't show the whole playable landing zone space, but rather only a small portion of it.

The map that is visible is always centred around you and will dynamically load in new parts of the map.

For example, you can keep heading north, and the map will eventually load out the area where you landed your ship

The lighting thing is probably a bug. Fallout 4 & 76 have light options that don’t cause those weird effects and are decently immersive.

This won't be enough to get me to come back to Starfield, there's a number of issues I had, and while it's a step in the right direction, it doesn't really address my main issues.

The story was abysmal. It followed Bethesda's seemingly recent trend for starting the game of both on rails and jamming all the toys into your hands right away narrative be damned. Then most of the main story didn't amount to more than fetch quests and almost none of them went to areas that were worth exploring beyond the story mission. What little I did find interesting, the end of the game just tossed aside.

The exploration suffered greatly from how the game evolved from their previous games. The strength of Bethesda rpgs was always the journey. You get an objective, but on the way there you run into interesting things that derail you and get you immersed in some side adventure, or you just run into unscripted encounters from the npcs just interacting with the world. Starfield may be a much bigger game, but it cuts as much of that journey out as possible. You pretty much have to use fast travel to get around, which means there's not much point to manually jump system to system, and when you land you're almost always right next to your objective. Exploring is something you have to go out of your way to do, and that makes it so much weaker. If you find nothing interesting on the way to your primary objective, that's fine, you just keep doing your primary objective, but if you go exploring with the express purpose of finding something interesting and don't, then you just wasted a bunch of time. So with the design changing such that exploration needs to be a more deliberate action instead of an incidental action, the burden on the things to discover is a lot higher, and it's just not up to par.

Lastly, none of the companions were too interesting. Having all the companions with some amount of backstory and personality be part of Constellation was pretty disappointing. They all feel pretty similar. Would've really liked the major factions to have some companions you could get. Having a companion with a story I could get invested in would go a long way in holding my interest in the game.

The game was at its best when it was the fun space adventure game. I didn't really find the loading screens an issue. Sure, it'd be better without them, but they also didn't really interfere with the game being a fun space adventure. A lack of companions I was invested in, interesting things to discover, and stories to play through did. They weren't completely absent, but they felt few and far between. I'm hopeful that the expansion can inject more of that into the game, but mainly I'm waiting on the creation kit for mods to take off.

Been playing Starfield a off and on since it came out and after 935 hours of playing with NO mods and have lvl 153. Today i finally got to getting 92% of the achievements (only 4 achievements left). I cant get 2 of the achievements till the slate needed in the Ryugen story line is fixed. The other 2 i can get of 5 outposts with cargo shipping routes and a maxed out companion rank. I got all my super powers and finished many of the side quests. I set a hard save so i can go back but i did make the jump and finally jumped through the portal to the new universe. I feel i did alot and have enjoyed the game. I love the shipbuilding part of the game and have 3 styles of ships i like. Just waiting for more content and bug fixes now.

Despite environmental hazards becoming more severe, it doesn’t matter what suit you wear.
The environmental protection of a suit lasts only a few seconds to a minute or so regardless of the numbers your suit shows, if you turn up the hazards.

It’s a difference between say 30 seconds and 90 seconds. Basically not enough time to reach anywhere without succumbing to lung failure or frostbite.
  • I've never understood why BGS don't just buy the top ten mods and add them as official updates.
  • @WallaceNine
Wondering if I will get to change traits without going through the Unity. I am at NG+ 10 and have now built outposts and ships and don't want to start over again.
