Believe it or not, The British Army abandoned sniper training in the late 60s early 70s. When NI kicked off they went cap in hand to the Royal Marines to retrain and rebadge us Pongos. I was fortunate to be on one of the first courses held in Warminster around 1973!

In Northern Ireland, back in 1972, the British Army's winning sniper team, helped by the rows of flags hanging from all the street lampposts in the village of Coalisland, destroyed a unit of the Provisional IRA at ranges later measured at 1400 yards, using their L42A1 rifles.
  • Just found this channel, love Rob. His genuine love for firearms and history makes these videos fun
  • I love how you said .. Lets be humble.. Its the rifle ...good shooting. Refreshing watching you shoot while relaxing... I catch myself slowing down my breathing acting like I'm shooting. Thx Rob
  • DPM sniper smock as well....so approved from the UK! In service the scope let the L42A1 down, but with better glass and quality ammo it's a sub MOA rifle - the Enfield Enforcer (Police Issue) actually arrived with a lighter trigger and Pecar 4 - 10x scope but either is a classic piece of history.
  • Wow that 710 yards scope view is not great. Good shooting sir. Nice rifle. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
  • Thank you for sharing all of the rifles you feature on the channel. Informative, enjoyable watching you shoot as you explain what, why, & how you either make or rarely miss a shot. Hold overs, windage, elevation & rounds. Love the history and capabilities of the old battle rifles. Ula’s camera work is very good! You are a very humble man, & the history is great. Always look forward to watching videos on both of the channels. Thank you, to you and your family for putting out great videos.

Great rifle system. But don’t underestimate you and Ola’s teamwork, much more than just “pulling the trigger”. Well done!

That L42A1 is no joke and great shooting Rob. That old round gives a great vapor trail, easy to read. Once again, great shooting! In my day we used a fixed 10 Power and things got really small out at around 700.

I love Enfield rifles, mine is a clone of the one on the bottom, it has a reproduction scope & scope mount. Both set on a 1942 Lee Enfield. Have taken it out to 500 meters once, i'm no sniper, so i only hit 3 of 10, but i jumped up & down like a kid at Christmas! Thnx Rob, excellent vid and history lesson.
