In the Ryder Cup, home team advantage doesn’t just mean the crowd is in your side. It means setting up the course so it plays in your favor—and punishes your opponents. Is this an unfair form of gamesmanship? Or simply smart strategy? In this episode of The Game Plan, Golf Digest’s Luke Kerr-Dineen breaks it down, and looks ahead to the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone

Zach johnson selected Justin Thomas so I don’t think the US is “money balling” the ryder cup
  • Fair game in my books. Coaches can pick players with outlier stats to combat these strategies. Players like Bryson...

Would love to see a random player draw done before each match for the pairings, throw all the names in a hat,

I think its more important that none of the American players played the Italian open while the European players did. If the US want to do better they should be taking the opportunity to play the European courses in a tournament setting.

This is fascinating. I had no idea this was allowed.

I have no issue with this. The course remains the same state for everyone and the opposition can still do their homework (maybe even predict the changes). The best players will adapt accordingly. Cream always rises.

USA: "2025 Bethpage Black" EU: "Ouch! Rory is the only one qualified."

The reason many people venture into Trading/lnvesting (Financial Market), is so that they can get to have a better life, while working and even after retirement. The wisest thing that should be on every wise individual's list is to invest in different stream of income; I am earning more this year because I have been investing while working at the same time. I Invested through LAURA A KEADY , same woman that an anchor kept mentioning on CNBC, she is licensed and made multiple of my start up capital within three months.

I am absolutely certain that both sides play this game as hard as they can in all regards ....

In every Teamsport you focus on your strengthes and the opponents weaknesses in every way the rule book gives you that freedom. Why should it be different in Golf? It is not like the Americans have to play a different course.

The Indian’s have been doing this to their cricket pitches for ages!

I like it. Part of the extreme pride that it would take for the 'away' team to win a cup.

The way US teams have played internationally in any sport lately doesn’t make me feel great 🤣
  • @jordybeans2392
These are professionals. It shouldn’t really matter. They should be able to score on any course. Doesn’t bother me.
  • @Ri_Guy
Does the USA mess with their courses too?
