We’re joined by Richard Gadd, who’s turned his real-life experience of being stalked into a hit TV series ‘Baby Reindeer’. Working behind the bar of a pub, he offered one female punter a free cup of tea after she claimed she couldn’t afford a drink. That single act of kindness set off a series of events which would change his life forever. The woman - ‘Martha’ - went on to send him 40,000 emails and 350 hours of voicemail while obsessively stalking him outside his home, at his workplace and at his comedy gigs. Richard joins us today to explain why he wanted to share his story and how it feels to have created Netflix’s current number-one TV series.

Richard is so incredibly brave for not only telling his story but physically acting this trauma out for the second time. I can’t even imagine how difficult that must be. We are all proud of you Richard ❤️

I love the moment he and his father discover they share the same past.
  • I almost can’t believe how open and vulnerable this show was, pretty incredible

Never seen such realistic portrayal in media of what a victim has to go through and experience after being victimised. I haven't cried this much in a long time. We need more art that resonates with people
  • @palemich
It genuinely breaks me that he says ‘I know other people have had it much worse than me’ What an extraordinarily strong man

The scene where he breaks down on stage has to win some sort of award

Randomly chose to watch 5 minutes of this. Watched the entire series in one sitting. Blew me away. Best series I've seen. And lead female actor, Jessica Gunning - have never seen such talent. Stunned.

As an American, it's lovely to watch hosts that are actually good interviewers.

I can say Baby Reindeer is one of the best dramas I've seen on Netflix for a long time- the writing, acting and editing is absolutely excellent- the way that it explores the mental health issues of both the stalker and of the victim of stalking is something unique and so compellingly acted. I couldn't help myself binge-watching it.

We rarely get such a nuanced portrayal of trauma and abuse, and especially about a man. Richard has helped many men and abuse victims in general by sharing his story. A brilliant series that had me gripped into binge watching it. Bravo!🎉

This show was hauntingly good. I'm still processing it.

Episode 4 was the most difficult things I’ve watched I think ever.

What was done to him by that man was pure EVIL.

I never knew when watching Netflix that the guy playing ‘Baby Reindeer’ is the real life guy!! 😮
  • @Keanerock
I hope Richard gets some Award's for Baby Reindeer, for his writing, his acting and his brutal honesty about the horrific things he endured. For him to act out himself was nothing short of class acting, he definitely deserves some recognition for this series.

This was the most intense series I have ever watched. Many times, it was so hard to watch and yet I was magnetised and drawn in to the outstanding acting. Richard is incredibly brave and to react and go through all those emotions again and tell his side of trauma he endured. What a phenomenal and inspiring person.

This series shook me to the core. I wasn’t expecting that
  • I only realised the actor was the real guy after I finished watching it. I watched it all on the edge of my seat. Absolutely amazing. This guy is a beautiful honest soul 💖
