Tuner cars are cars that can be easily modified- or tuned. But what does that mean?! When you change something under the hood, your engine has to be tuned to work with it! This Science Garage looks at the history of “tuning,” from what started as delicate mechanical adjustments, to how it exists today- a marriage between the computer tech of of the future and the forced induction and air/fuel mixes that are as old as cars themselves.

Bart teaches us how cars work by blowing stuff up and cutting things in half. It’s a science show for the car lover who’s easily bored. Join Bart as he explains the science behind everything automotive. This is cars down to the atom. This is Science Garage.

This guy's Dad energy is so comforting, If I can't figure out what he's trying to explain I know that he's there to explain it again in a clear and concise way that even I can figure it out. I don't know what donut did with him but I hope they bring him back, even just for a special episode

I kept telling myself, when I get my car I’m gonna throw a supercharger and a new intake and fuel inject it without knowing I’d have to get all that tuned... so here I am

Few years ago I had BMW 530D E60. Before we tuned it we measured on dyno to be 158kw. After they were finished with tuning it was doing 205kw and it was all done electronically without any hardware updates. I don't know what they did but after leaving tuning shop and trying to jump green light that was blinking the power change was VERY noticeable. It was a bit wet, I was doing like 40km/h and as soon as I floored it the wheels span. I remember after tuning if I was doing 100km/ha and floored for over-take the speed would just keep climbing at insane rate. Once was over taking 3 trucks at onnce and by the time it took me to overtake the last one I was doing 160km/ha. Before the tuning maximum top speed that I've reached was 235km/ha, after the tunning it was 260km/ha but that was the limit of the speedometer.

90000 RPM is a lot of revolutions for a regular car engine.

10:07 "Chips probably can't get you 50 more horsepower." Diesel owners: Are ya sure about that?
