It is not all about muscles. Women give their views on what they find attractive in a man.

Reporter Cathal O’Shannon asks young women about the physical attributes that they find attractive in men.

According to those interviewed, both physical attributes and personality contribute to the attractiveness of a man.

"I don’t like a man who’s too preoccupied with his own masculinity."

Musical talents also featured in the list of desirable characteristics.

"I’m very attracted to men who are able to sing and play music."

One woman says she like a well-proportioned man in terms of height and build.

"I find those muscular men rather revolting to look at."

Another woman reinforces this view,

"...Apollo type specimens of humanity which I find rather disgusting looking."

This episode of ‘Newsbeat’ was broadcast on 27 June 1967. The reporter is Cathal O’Shannon.

This video should just be called ‘Irish chicks from the 60’s diss bodybuilding for 3 minutes straight’. 😂

"A bit like you." immediately stops recording Pure coincidence, I'm sure ;)
  • It’s actually kind of wonderful hearing so many people stressing the importance of personality for attraction

1:33 “you will get so developed that you look rather like what you will find in a zoo” As a bodybuilder I think that’s the greatest compliment a bodybuilder can hear

I love how they expressed themselves without fear of making an internet mob angry.

I love how people spoke in the 1960's. Even in America, there was something about the inflection, the sound/flow of their voices that was both pleasant and soothing to listen to. I wish I spoke like that.

Their accent was also real and much understandable.
  • that chick calling gym rats something you would look at a zoo had me nearly spit my coffee out on my laptop.

I'm shocked at how drastically our articulation of language has fallen in just a few generations. I appreciated how they could actually describe their thoughts, compared to today's efforts of description

“Women like men much the same way men like women.” That was my mother talking. She said this in response to my puzzlement over why girls at my school would engage in positive banter with boys who tried to get their attention in ways I didn’t care for (though I didn’t understand them from a social perspective at the time). I’ve found attraction from the female point of view a fascinating subject ever since.

Plot twist, they are all just describing the interviewers build just to be polite
  • I'm impressed with how eloquently they express themselves. Times have changed.

“ I’m very attracted to men who can sing and play music “ me if I lived at that century…men who are artists writers poets are extremely charismatic for me..just by their sensitivity to art and beauty..no women there mentioned money or showing off material stuff…which is a proof enough for everyone who claims that we are superficial!
