Jos Verstappen sleutelt de kart van zijn zoon Max, die als groot talent de ene na de andere kart wedstrijd wint. In augustus 2014 zou Max toetreden tot het opleidingsporgramma van Red Bull. Hij werd al snel genoemd als kandidaat voor een Formule 1 plek, bij Torro Rosso in 2015. Hiermee zou hij de jongste Formule 1 coureur ooit worden. Ook dat is gelukt.
In mei 2016 promoveerde Max Verstappen naar Red Bull Racing, en slecht een paar dagen later, op 15 mei 2016 verbrak Max diverse records toen hij de Gran Prix van Spanje op zijn naam schreef. Hij was daarmee de jongste Grand Prix winnaar ooit, en tevens de eerste nederlander.
