He has unique phrasing. Tone, guitar choice, technique, are all directed by that phrasing. Never overplays, listens to his band. Great player.
  • Thanks for posting.............This guy needs to like jam with Clapton or Derek Trucks or something...... He is one of the greats........ Like a mix between Hendrix, Page, Mick Taylor, and I don't know who else, but definitely has his own style/signature sound...... in my book an original player (but then again, what do I know ;)

This is such an awesome video.. No one can play the guitar like Marc Ford

This is crazy good!! I can't stop listening to it. I mean what awsome tone!!

I wanna see Ford, Warren Haynes and Trucks jam. Ford is my favorite musician ever. Sure there are some that are more technical, blah blah blah, but to me, Marc and Warren play with the most soul..
  • Great post and Marc’s on point! Camera man is all over the place and not experienced lol

Great cover. Nice to see a Hendrix cover other than Little Wing. I'd love to see Marc tackle Hendrix's Driving South or Midnight...

I was at this Show in Front row and the reason Mark Ford played the Cat's Eye Mista Fuzz? when he footswitched the Analogman Fuzz it crap out and right away he kicked the Mista Fuzz in to action and sounded awesome...

Really amazing video! It was cool when he worked the riff from "3rd Stone From The Sun" around 5:45

@novaberbe Yeah man... can hear a few Crowes tunes in my head with that bend. He's a bad-ass. He totally inspired me to find my own tone when I saw him in a small club. His tone just blew me to the moon
  • @novaberbe
@davejohnsonmusic Thats what i meant yeah... I've been following him for years now, and he just has something that i can't take my ears and eyes from... I really think his playing is at it's best on a les paul. He seems so comfortable with a les paul. (how i wish he would take out the stripped one he used with the Crowes! Does he still own that one? That used to be his baby)
  • @novaberbe
man that guy get's a nice tone from anything.. He played amsterdam a couple of years ago with rented orange amps, and those suited him well too. I'll tell ya, he can get a nice tone from a toothbrush...

@sfbassist I actually snagged it from someone who had a bunch of Ford links. It was in Quicktime format, but not on youtube. So I uploaded it myself. Yeah this guy just makes you wanna pick up your Strat and rip. It would be real cool to jam with him, even if only for a day. I would just watch and listen and absorb. I would be a better player the next day guaranteed.

@novaberbe After that show, I basically jumped him in the back of the club outside and tried to blow him! Haha. I just was asking him about his amps and pedals he was using. That got my journey for tone on the right track. I actually learned a lot from people on his forum. Though I did try some pedals he was using, I didn't pick up any Schreyer amps that he uses. Instead, I went with the Louis Electric KR-12. Love it to death

@novaberbe I saw him a couple times with the Crowes... can't remember what he was playing. I'm usually pretty lit at those shows. They are the best live band on the planet. They always have a groovy vibe happening. Is that axe ur talking about like a light greenish color? When I saw him with his son doing the solo stuff, he busted out what looked like a LP Studio that could have been stripped. Yeah it had some brown in it too. I thought it looked sweet
