That glare from the sun is actually the feature from Xiaomi called "starburst effect" due to its variable aperture. You can check it out on their product info/specs/feature/details on their website.

That running kid is super cute. Thanks for the effort Sami. I was surprised to see how good fhe iphone15PM videos were at those zoom range in daylight. Night videos, I feel goes to the 14ultra. But Vivos night time photos were killer. Some suggestions for you. When comparing videos for the 3 phones, I think instead of going through all the different zoom ranges, individually one each phone first before moving on to the next phone, I think it's better if you go to a particular zoom range and do it for all 3 phones respectively, before changing to the next zoom range and doing the same. Example, wide for all 3 phones, then 1x for all 3 phones, then 2 times for all 3 phones and so on. That way it's easier to compare concurrently. Also, for zoom video. I think you should compare the video quality at 15x since that is the max the I15PM can go to. It's unfair to compare 15x on the Apple and 20x on the other 2 phone. You could do a separate category for the zoom video at 20x where only the xiaomi and vivo would be competing.

I think 14U was clearly the best here in majority of situations. Most natural looking photos and details. Vivo is really struggling hard with over-sharpening, tho a lot of people seem to think that over-sharpening is detail, it's not, the same way a darker photo doesn't mean lack of detail or exposure issues. Plus almost 2x slower shutter speed on average compared to Xiaomi, really impressive job Xiaomi.

It seems the Vivo X100 Ultra's numerous firmware updates over the past few weeks have improved it a lot and there's plenty more updates to look forward to. It's still not perfect and isn't much of an upgrade over the X100 Pro (which is perfectly well optimized by now and costs a lot less). The blurry long distance zoom photos is a real problem and it's not massively better even in low light against the competition, but it's still noticebly better overall compared to how it was during launch and the main lens and ultrawide still performs well.

Thanks Sam, great in depth video covering these top competing camera phones. Hard to make a choice at the moment but have a Vivo x100 Ultra coming in the mail soon! Can't wait for all the macro photography goodness 😁

I think you should clarify where your focus is beforehand. The fact is that all smartphones take good pictures. However, I see that VIVO uses its AI to blend the shadows and all looks to artificail sharp from front to back, and so they look like all the old smartphones from the last 5 years. I see that Xiaomi retains shadows, especially in faces, and to me it looks like a good DSLR camera. I won't go into everything here. You could perhaps take a SONY DSLR and do a proper comparison. ;) I would also compare automatic and manual. There is also an important point that you always leave out and that is that the automatic mode is supposed to take the user's thinking away and it is supposed to represent a theoretical preference of the manufacturer (company policy). So please, before you confuse people any further, please do a qualitative comparison. Thank you

Vivo only has blurry images if you move the phone too fast before the photo has been taken away, it should be related to the focus and the exposure
  • @sfmn2396
Very nice pls keep it coming :D
  • @kevinortega678
Es importante dejar de ver la nitidez digital al ampliar como una conservación de mayor detalle
  • @SamiLuo at start thanks for great comparison. Anyone who owns Vivo X100U could confirm or decline this "blur" issues? Do you think it's just software and could be fixed or this might be something with hardware?
  • @Ko6pa
Hi Sami, please match zoom levels when doing zoom comparison part! 1x to 1x to 1x then 2x - 2x - 2x ON EACH PHONE and so on. Because all we can compare side-to-side is only 15x (60x, 100x) at the end, ignoring all of the major zoom levels...😭 Thank you so much for a comparison ❤️
