Apparently the estimated budget for this was $60,000.... That absolutely blows my mind when Hollywood horrors, which have a budget of millions, can't even come close to how good this horror short is.
  • @reggieking1045
The guy that played the sheriff deserves a shot at starring in a big budget horror movie. His facial expressions and emotions felt genuine rather than acting.
  • If short film wasn’t in the title I would have thought this was a scene from a big budget action film. This is incredible! And every actor deserves a job in Hollywood.

The sheriff is a tremendous actor. He makes you feel like this is real, and that he witnessed what he saw. The detective was pretty good too. This is one of my all time favorites of the short films. Great job.

I like how the sheriff actually gets the hell out of there as soon as he hears something horrifying instead of investigating more.
  • @morbidvoy
Why does a person roll down his car window during the night in the woods is beyond my comprehension...
  • @Random-ns1vk
It really gives me Until Dawn vibes. Everything is so mysterious yet intriguing. I can't describe it. I applaud each and everyone of these actors for a SHF. 👏

Now THIS is a high quality short movie... From acting to casting, from lighting to tempo... Congrats.
  • Dear All, I know many of you are anxiously anticipating Part 2 of MINER’S MOUNTAIN! For that, we are very grateful. Please know, this film has been funded independent of any rich uncles, Hollywood monies, trust funds or anything of the like. MINER’S MOUNTAIN is truly an independent production. It has been a long road and Covid has not helped. Ben has the film edited but we are waiting on the visual effects to be completed. We are on our 3rd visual effects team. Ben has very high standards and we are on a shoestring budget. He wants the absolute best for Part 2 and he is not willing to cut corners. I hope you all can have patience as Ben and team do their best to get Part 2 done right. Thank you. We are grateful for your continued support, patience and interest in the film.
  • When he's in the car trying to start it...I'm yelling at my phone "ROLL YOUR DAMN WINDOW UP!!!" Lol

The music is on-spot, the screech is horrifying, the subtle pause on any background sound when the creature is near is perfect. The silence, the indifference the thing has for immobile vehicles makes a lot of sense too. Also, the fact that they fear humans, even though they consider us prey, gives some sort of animalistic realism to them. They aren't humans... But almost are. I like the acting of the interrogation and the final conversation. All 3 actors are great, but the oldest Sheriff (Henry Bazemore, Jr) absolutely nailed it. His part is all about drama, which isn't something all horror movies manage to do well; But this short surely hit the spot, and they chose an excellent actor for the role.

Why is this Youtube short film more interesting than actually horror/mystery films?
  • @PKSIX22
Those Wendigo screeches are genuinely terrifying. The sheriffs acting as well seems genuine, I love it

Now this is the type of content that i pay my internet bills for..
  • @pyner0s496
Look at the credits Look how many people it took to make this happen... Salute to each of you! That's was the REALEST "no" I've seen on screen in a while.. I felt it! 😬
  • @Gabriel.Bonfim
A seventeen-minute low budget film nailed far more than the late Hollywood make believe productions!
  • @newtdockery9575
The actor who played the sheriff has a bright future. Great A level acting.
  • @JD-rq3ur
Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a full length version of this movie.
  • To all wondering about the music. I have done hours of research and I found the following: Revenge by Kerry Muzzey - 15:14 - 16:25 Something can grow by Tony Anderson - This is the violin song that appears at 0:05 - 0:52, 12:19 - 14:00, and 14:50-15:14 Evaporate by Luke Atencio - 4:35 - 5:45 The Summoning by Kyle Preston - 5:58 - 6:50 Because Finally It's Everything Alaskan Tapes - 10:25 - 10:38 I apologize but I couldn't find anything on that one atmospheric song between 3:27 and 4:04 or the song after the summoning between 6:50 and 7:04. My theory is that the song after the summoning is just a rendition of Revenge by Kerry Muzzey. Most disapointingly I couldn't get anything on the music between 10:43 and 14:10. Can't wait for the next movie. Great work Ben.
