Come to work with me today and see what it's like to work in a Library! (Have you always wanted to work in a library?)

Things I did not include in this VLOG:
- It's 38ºC today and it's a SCORCHER. My hair's in a messy bun - not the cute kind!
- It's too hot to cook dinner. We'll probably have cereal.
- I sweat. ALOT. Like; Ugly Sweaty. And my face goes BEET RED.

I speak to my advisor on Tuesday about submitting application to University here in Ohio for my Masters in Library and Information Science! I am 43 and also an author / illustrator. Very excited about getting into this field as a complement to all of my passions. Was a photographer while I raised my son and now that Ive survived the first few years of empty nest syndrome, I have figured out what to do with myself again 🤓♥️

This video was so calming! Loved it.
  • Hello from a Library Assistant from Ohio, USA! :) I do all the teen stuff at one of our branches in the county system. Love seeing other countries libraries!

I have been wanted to be a librarian and I'm so glad that I found this video to see what responsibilities you have to do in a public library. I have been a librarian assistant before and I love the job and I want to do this job again later in the future.

Thank you for sharing your day with us! I think it's one of the best work ever 😍 Very calm and interesting

Hi! First off let me just say, you are SO underrated! Your videos are so peaceful and lovely. It's like instant relaxation the moment I click play.
Secondly, you mentioned you got a teaching degree before you went for your masters. I've been thinking of following that same path (I'm torn between becoming a teacher or a librarian, and I want to have the option by the time I finish college). Do you find that your education degree comes in handy with your current career? I know most MLIS courses don't require prior experience, but I still want to be picking up skills that could be helpful later on.
Again, your videos are fantastic! ❤❤❤

Its so nice to see a vlog from a fellow Australian Librarian, its pretty cool that your working in a public library as I'm working in a School library and have never worked in a public library, I will say though the RFID barcodes are pretty amazing. Do you guys receive your books already covered and catalogued as we doing all our own cataloguing and endprocessing. Good luck on your studies to :) :)

Hello there! I've been so fortunate to stumble upon your channel, and have really enjoying watching your videos 😊 I am making the transition out of teaching and have been so blessed to secure an interview for a library assistant position, which is coming up (I'm a bit nervous!) with your wealth of experience, I would just like to ask for your advice on how I should approach the interview, and the types of things they may be looking for. Thank you so much in advance!

It's so wonderful to learn that there are others that are also studying to become a librarian. I also have a masters degree in teaching and have gone back for a second masters in library and information science. Hoping to become a school librarian. Currently a classroom teacher at the elementary school level. Are there librarians in your public schools?

This is a nice, calm video. Question: Those books at the library that u mentioned are reserved, are the library users reserving them for reading later or the library reserves them?.....

Hi there! I'm so happy to have found this vlog! I'm based in Melbourne (Frankston actually), that library looks a lot like Carrum Downs Library but I could be way off! I've always thought about working in a library, but I'm not sure what pathway is best. I just got my Bachelor of Creative Writing, I work as a writer in an incredibly fast-paced marketing agency, I'd definitely enjoy the quieter setting. Should I go ahead and study the Master of Information Studies (Charles Sturt has a promising course that includes archives/children's literature/and librarianship as majors) or should I go for a Diploma? I would really love to have your professional opinion. My job is 9am-5pm 5 days a week so finding time to volunteer will be difficult.
  • @UttamKumar-di8ux
Maam i also love with this job but now I m in service in army. How can I shift into library job whereas I recently passed in MLIS of first class degree? Please suggest me.
  • Hi, thanks. I have found your clog very interesting and helpful. I am currently a teacher and would like to make the change to becoming a librarian/library worker. You mentioned that you are completing a Masters. Has this been very practical in training you to work in a library as someone who has come from another industry? Or has it assumed a prior librarian skills.
  • So I’ve gotta ask… what exactly does a non casual librarian do because it looks like you do EVERYTHING!? Thank you for this vlog! Would love to work in a library at some point. It’s my dream job.

    Hello,
Another Australian viewer here, I am going to be starting my diploma at Tafe end of this month but have been doing an Advanced diploma in history at UNE ( 3 units to go woo hoo 🙂) and hoping to combine my two loves of research and history 🙂. I live in NSW.

How are you finding your studies and any recommendations for courses, uni etc?
