How to jab in boxing: part 5: defensive jabs

Published 2024-05-20
Welcome to part five in our ultimate jab series
The perfect series for any beginner boxer , intimidate or advanced boxer on how to make your jab, the number one punch in boxing , your best weapon, most people favour their dominant hand , right if your and orthodox, left if your a southpaw but your least dominant hand will be closer to your opponent therefore should be faster getting to the target, we’ve covered lots so far from how to do a basic jab in boxing, double jabs, jabs to the body , up jabs, slip jabs and more
Today we’re looking at defensive jabs, the push out jab, it’s not a power shot it’s used while exiting or creating angles on your opponent and giving them something to deal with rather than you just finish punching and now it’s their turn.
Once you have the footwork and shadow boxing drills done it’s time to practice on the heavy bag and once that’s all done and your happy and comfortable with moving in any direction why not give it a go in sparring and try to make these defensive drills work for you.    • Beginner boxing lessons: ultimate jab...
