A Dark Song (The Horrors Of 2017) | Video review

Published 2017-10-04
Two people, one house, one ritual, that's all you need for a horror movie, right? Well, it definitely is all we have here in A Dark Song, so let's see if they're able to pull that off.

The ending is out of this world. Different, refreshing and weirdly believable! Great great movie!
  • I really liked the movie. And really liked the ending. It's a full circle for her because her son will never come back and the killers will never get punished the way she wants and she needs to forgive herself to continue her life.

I was really disappointed by the ending. I mean that's it?

This movie has the most accurate representation of the Abramelin ritual. Not that most movies tackle the theme of Abramelin, but A Dark Song did a pretty good job according to many occult experts.

I enjoyed this film greatly, and recommend the book: "The Sacred Magick of Abramelin the Mage" to all.
  • I agree the demons were lame, but I thought the angel was incredible. How it's voice is inaudible, but shakes the foundations of the house itself was cool to me. Also tried to figure out what it said, I assume it said; "What is the favor you ask for?" But considering the rest of the movie I feel like it may of said something in Latin or Aramaic.

i really like the creepy background photo you used in this video (as well as the one for Devil's Candy) during transitions. I appreciate that they both are specific for each movie. I like this little detail!

hes screaming at her to emphasize the severity of this ritual.how else would u do the angels and demons without turning into constantine.everything in the movie is realistic, doesn't get ridiculous for a minute.and the ending is unexpected and liberating, loved it.how else would u portray an angel? an orb of light?.10/10

I disagree about the ending, I really liked it and didn't expect it at all. I assumed the whole thing was in her mind because of all the fasting and lack of sleep and how he was breaking her down. Good review!

Ahhh I watched this movie last night and you upload this today. Perfect timing lol. I really liked this movie but I think I just enjoy slow burn types. I also loved the sound design.

You kinda need to have pre-knowledge to understand what going on there. The movie is a slow burner because the ritual it self is, it can last up to 8 months on one try!

You’ve been killing it with the uploads lately, love it! I’ve never seen this movie but I might have to now. Can anyone recommend any good horror/drama films on Netflix?
