We played Marvel's Spider-Man 2 In Los Angeles and came away with a ton of new info about developer Insomniac Games' open-world action game. In this episode of New Gameplay Today, we showcase publisher-provided footage — reflective of our recent hands-on session — and share our reactions from fighting Lizard, changes to the series' web-swinging mechanics, and Peter Parker and Miles Morales' new Web Wings, which allows the heroes to glide throughout New York City.

  • In a Playstation blog post, it says the web grabber can also pull in objects like sewer drain covers. If that is true than you can knock out/damage enemies with random things if the web grabber is used the right way.

  • I was hesitant about the web wings at first because I thought it would negate any reason to swing, but seeing how they implemented it into the traversal…it’s perfect. I can’t wait to play.

    so glad that it seems they have improved boss battles. The last game had you doing the same exact thing in order to get the boss stunted then you can attack them.Definitely felt too repetitive,so its great to see that they are giving multiple options for fighting bosses.
  • It would be cool if during the venom fight you can’t use your spider sense and have to rely on visuals of venoms attacks to time your dodges. One of the things that make venom a more threatening villain is that Peter can’t sense him. It’s never really been used to it’s full potential so I really hope to see it here.
  • SM2 will probably be one of those games that you'll want to play in quality mode just to enjoy those stunning visuals. I'm pretty curious to see the RT and reflex level in performance mode anyway.

    Parrying and 2 phase boss fights. I love this combat upgrade. Going to put hundreds of hours and def go for that platinum trophy 🏆
  • Swinging looks better in this than the others because you can see that all the momentum at the end of the swing is maintained when you let go and zip through the air. It doesn’t feel like it slows down the way it does in the first 2.
  • After seeing the gliding mechanic, I KNOW Insomniac could make a Proper Superman game, if only.....
