Lyrics
Never seen the sun before
Lying on the ocean floor
I’m walking through the wilderness
And living off the loneliness
Wild blue deeper than I ever knew
Wild blue on a bed of grey
Oh baby what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
All the tears I mean to cry
Dance across the evening sky
And in my sorrow I can see
That missing you belongs to me
Wild blue deeper than I ever knew
Wild blue on a bed of grey
Oh baby what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
Wild blue deeper than I ever knew
It’s a wild blue since you went away
Oh baby what a wild blue
I found myself when I lost you
And you’ll never know
The unlikely beauty in letting you go

This album has been out for 38 minutes, but sounds like it has been out for 38 years
-
Mayer doing the Knopfler early dire straits thing. Yes.
-
honestly this might be one of the best songs he's ever made
-
"And you'll never know The unlikely beauty in letting you go" Not enough could be said for how this was delivered. Amazing. Personal favourite track.
-
Can't wait to hear the 7 minute live version with the extended solo of this song in concert🔥
-
I'm calling this 'The Best 80's Album of 2021'
-
This song just chokes every new song in the album. It's actually one of the best studio songs Mayer has ever recorded. It's sad but you can dance to it. It's a mix of JJ Cale, Clapton and Knopfler with a pop vibe. It's really fresh.
-
JJ Cale, Mark Knopfler, Chris Rae, all in one song.
-
Many years ago, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton had a baby. That baby grew up and went on a Scuba Diving trip with instructor JJ Cale. There she hooked up with another deep sea enthusiast named John Mayer. Nine months later, this song was born, with the help of delivering physician Don Was and nurse Paul Reed Smith. And they lived happily ever after next to the ocean. <3

That is the best song in the album
-
This song makes me feel like I have heard music for the first time
-
This song just makes me want to hit the road to anywhere. In a sunny afternoon feeling the breeze mussing my hair...
-
It’s almost 1 AM, windows open with crickets chirping in the background and an entirely new John Mayer album to listen to. Safe to say that today is a good day!
-
My ears feel massaged after listening to this
-
John Mayer could be a "Sultan of Swing" with this one. HEAT.
-
Fleetwood Mac rhythm/beat + Dire straits guitar + JJ Cale vocals = Wild Blue 🔥
-
1:48 I’m OBSESSED that ease into the solo is literally perfection. Every guitar player shot up when listening to that. John Mayer is a fuckin legend
-
THE JOHN’S SOLOS ARE BACK PEOPLE. I might pass out.
-
At 2:51 John says “that’s a good one” after he lands the bend. Legendary.
-
It gives me “sultans of swing” by Dire Straights vibes. I think this is my favorite song from the new album.
