Sometimes things don't go great and this sequel is just that, not bad but just okay.

Not including the Furious Five is a... choice. The wrong choice, if you ask me. It's a clear mistake to ignore characters that have been involved in the story and the protagonist's development from the start. It sounds like they wasted Tai Lung too, which is a real shame because they could've done something truly interesting with his character and further explored the dynamic between him and Po. If you're going to bring a dead character back, you need to make it count.
  • I liked this enough, but it’s far away from the other Kung fu pandas in terms of quality. I still love this franchise, especially the 1st one. But I was kind of disappointed with little to no Furious 5 and the lack of villain representation like the advertising promised.
  • The fact that the Furious Five wasn't in the movie was tue biggest Bruh moment.

2:02 I think the reason why The Chameleon didn’t have much to do with Po, is because she is supposed to be Zhen’s villain as Zhen is now taking over as the Dragon Warrior.
  • The idea of a villain who can copy the abilities of past villains is one with a ton of potential but was severely underused. They had the opportunity here to have all the villains fight alongside Po to get their power back or something sick like that.

SPOILERS my greatest disappointment from the film was the final fight. Something felt wrong with the chameleon shape shifting into monstrosity that combined every animal she stole the form of. That’s probably how I’d describe the movie, lackluster and “off”. Even the models look weird, not just Zhen, compare the wolves and bulls to previous movies. The bulls are more noticeable with their eyes but more details weird when you look back at the designs of the three movies. Even the soundtrack wasn’t as memorable to me. I think when they first arrived at Juniper City, that was the ost that stood out most. Needless to say I was disappointed. It doesn’t feel like a kfp movie.

Not even gonna lie, Chameleon doesn't even look like a Chameleon, she looks more like a gecko.

Us megamind’s fans were massacred so po’s fans at least have an ok movie

As Shaff pointed out, a buddy-buddy adventure with Lee and Ping would've been charming and fun.

Tai Lung not having a redemption arc pisses me off ngl, especially after they hyped him up so much in the trailers

Can't wait for Kung fu panda 5 to be even more okay.
  • I haven’t seen the movie, but from reviews I’ve seen it’s good to okay, not as great as the first two, but not terrible.

I would actually say it’s a bad movie rather than okay, if you take the context for the series, it kind of destroys every single character arc every character has. Your saying shifu of all people doesn’t want to investigate the possibility the tai lung has returned? Shifu the same guy who said “double the guards, double everything” at the mere thought of him escaping. Shifu also wants the furious five to handle it? After they got bodied by tai lung in the first movie? Then they make po’s panda dad a joke and a coward.. and i think at one point they even make the joke about him “feeling like a warrior”…. But…he is a warrior…? In KF2 in po’s flashback you literally see him defending his village against shen, he is not a coward. And po? I think that’s the most obvious… po feeling insecure about “who am i if not the dragon warrior” is the most redundant plot point because the past three movies are literally about that. Even the first, “there is no secret ingredient, it’s just you”

Yeah, despite me noticing the flaws and that it wasn’t as much of a quality as the first 3, it still managed to provide an enjoyable experience for me at least, and it was nice seeing Tai Lung again and Zhen having Awkwafina’s voice is quite a nice touch. 👍👏
  • Wait wait wait. Are u telling me that Kung Fu Panda 4 brought back the previous 3 villains, and yet two of them don’t even have lines, and the other is just out of focus. Like what?

In our opinion we enjoyed it! We think it upholds its story alright without ruining it. I like how they handled Zhen’s character overall in contrast to the chameleon. Honestly think without the subplot of Po’s dads, they could of made more time for the furious 5 and the past villains. Overall enjoyable movie like the past 3. Solid 8.5/10.

I still feel like this movie missed everything that made the first Kung Fu Pandas such great movies, which is the overall message being conveyed and understood by the end and having a resolution everyone feels good about Bringing Tai Lung back just for a nostalgic cameo is such a waste for his character, which is one of the best in KFP, it would have been amazing if he was brought back and was defeated, his defeat couls have wounded him deeply emotionally convinced maybe he was always a faliure, then through out the film he decides he has to help Po defea the villian and you coudlnhave some insanely deep moments with Po and Tai Lung sinply talking, outting Tai Lungs views on the world and himself into question then in the final battle when it looks like Po might lose and Tai Lung is given the opportunity to betray Po he refuses and helps Po in the final encounter showing how he has evolved past his anger and hatred and his humbling makes Po decide to make him the new Dragon Warrior. Thsi would have been the best arc in Kung Fu Panda is this was how things played out. This would have fit into the message of change the movie was going for and would have helped finish Tai Lungs character arc with him coming back as a better person and reuniting him with shifu at the end and both apologising for each of their mistakes. The little fox character was just annoying honestly but i would have prefered it if in this movie the furious 5 were disbanding to pursue their own future. Po would have a hard time reconciling with this since he doesnt wa t everone to leave him and in the end when he accept that he too must change to pursue his own future this would call Po to create a new furious 5 with Zhen possiblly leading the new team being trained by Po. Had this been the story we could have had many character fo through their respective arcs and possibly had one of the best Kung Fu Panda films Po learns to accept change and embracses his role as spiritual leader and teacher Tai Lung learns where he went wrong and changes to put aside his self entitlement and brutality for a slighly more gentle nature And Zhen puts her life of crime behind her to better herself and become more than what she was Also cutting out the whole sub plot with Po's two fathers (it really didnt add anything to the plot beyond bad slapstick comedy)

I think the main problem was the budget wasn’t as high as the others.
