Thanos is the Endgame of the MCU. Ever since the post credit scene of 2012’s The Avengers, the MCU has been building to the point where the Mad Titan will get his hands on the six Infinity Stones, put them into the Infinity Gauntlet and use their combined power to wipe out half of all life in the universe, which was exactly what Thanos did in Avengers: Infinity War, something that the Avengers had to undo in Endgame.

Thanos has proven time and time again that he’s extremity powerful, beyond the fact that he was able to destroy powerful Avengers like Hulk and Thor, he was able to wield the Infinity Gauntlet, snap his fingers twice and still survive to tell the tale.

In Avengers: Endgame, Thanos was able to fight Captain America, Iron Man and Thor all at the same time, and even the combined power of both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker wasn’t enough to take the Mad Titan down.

But the question that the battle in Endgame raises is: could Thanos actually be more powerful without the Infinity Stones than with them?
While Thanos was able to smash Hulk, he had a serious challenge in his later fights in Infinity War.

Yet, in Endgame, Thanos was able to take down some of the most powerful Avengers without using a single Infinity Stone.

Is it possible that something was weakening Thanos in Infinity War? Well, we believe that the Infinity Stones were the reason why Thanos’ power level was so inconsistent in the last two Avengers movies.

Simple. In infinity war: it wasn’t personal In endgame: it was
  • @richkidd6284
In Infinity war he didn't want to kill the Avengers In Endgame he was pure evil
  • @luigii9547
He wasn’t weaker in infinity war, he was to confident, he was just playing, but when he doesn’t have any stone or only have one he takes it more seriously. That’s my theory
  • @kellylarson6616
In infinity war: Thor is the man. In Endgame: Thor is nerfed so there is a story. This is why there is a difference
  • Infinity War: Thanos wins Endgame: Thanos loses Perfectly balanced.

"In all my years of conquest, violence, slaughter, it was never personal. But I'll tell you now, what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet.... I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much." The fight has become personal to Thanos

Thanos got his double edged sword from the dying star that I can’t spell that Mjolnir came from I think

And after all, Scarlet Witch almost smashed his armor like cardboard
  • @clarkkent6035
You’re overthinking this. Infinity War: Thanos wanted the stones to decide who dies. In Endgame: Thanos wasn’t holding back.
  • @fierceblade1014
It’s also that in infinity war. He was showing mercy and didn’t want to kill any of them unless they resisted him
  • Reasons he was “weak” on Infinity War: Pity, Pacifist, Confindent. Reasons he was strong in Endgame: No pity, no pacifism, no confidence. The goal to exterminate all of the Avengers’s universe was another reason to push him to his maximum effort said Wade Wilson

If you dont wanna watch the entire video here: In Infinity War: Older Thanos, has one goal of bringing balance, his target isnt to kill the Avengers unless they are a threat. He was more calm and delicated to his goal. (You can see he was playing with them and wasn't really fighting unless he really needed to.) In Endgame: Younger Thanos, has a goal of just killing everyone and destroying planet by planet and therefore he was more aggressive and since he was younger - he was faster and stronger.

When he saw his head get chopped off, it was personal lol
  • @pk9102
One line answer:he is just bloodlusted in endgame while philosophical in infinity war. That's all.
  • @Hope_mochi
Thanoss lines in infinity war: Badass Thanoss fights in endgame: Badass
  • @juhbell1852
He wasn’t trying to kill at all in infinity war. He was just trying to achieve his goal
  • In Infinity War he was just playing. In Endgame he was pissed as hell
  • @JohnL2112
He... wasn’t. By the time he had power stone and reality stone in Infinity War, he was just taking his time. In Endgame he was just pissed.
  • @AminCad
In IW, Thanos was more restrained. In EG, he had seen what had happened to him, including being first impaled, then beheaded, by Thor, and what had happened with the remaining half of the Avengers, as they gathered the stones again to undue his genocide-snap. Seeing that, he became more aggressive, and committed to the fight - which led to him using his armor and weapons - both of which made him fight more effectively.
  • @joeyjerry1586
Well, the answer is kind of simple: In Infinity War, Thanos’s goal was to get all 6 stones, snap his fingers and kill half of life. That was his goal. He was not trying to murder anyone. He’d only harm/murder those that got in his way or could easily stop him, In Endgame, Thanos wanted to kill and destroy the universe and start a brand new one. He was pure evil and would harm anyone who was in his way, no matter the consequences.
