I initially bought the base model Tacoma 4 cylinder 2WD because I thought that was all I was going to need but after a few trips from L.A. to Las Vegas and back, I took it back because I realized what I really needed was the TRD Offroad. Cost a few more dollars BUT now I am 100% sure I finally have the perfect truck for me
  • The “ storage containers” in the bed are NOT water tight. Don’t store anything of value during rainy months. They fill up with water . Just a warning!

You can't get the LED lights on the Trail Edition, since it's based off of an SR5. I think personally I'd got for a TRD Off Road and save a little money and get the LED Headlights. 👍

Hi Ben! Thanks for the video….waiting on my new Tacoma to be delivered!

The problem isn't the MSRP, it's the $10,000 dealer markup.
  • Reserved a Tacoma Trail! Waiting for delivery to the dealership. Great video!

Waited for a trail edition but dealer got a pro in first so took the pro. If trail had the hood scoop it would look just about the same as the pro.
  • Did you check the tilt and telescoping of the steering wheel? Because the telescoping on my 17 taco frankly sucks only moves about 3 inches or less.

Ben does this truck come with the TRD shock package? Thanks

The way I understand it, there is a "map pocket" only on the back of the passenger seat, because it is intended to be used by the driver and not necessarily the rear passengers. In the old days (pre GPS), the driver could easily reach behind the passenger seat and grab a map out of there. Theoretically even easier than the glove box. Which was of course full of gloves 😉

So is it just a TRD OR without the bilstien shocks and bigger side cubbies?
  • @harysuper
Nice video! I Think this is a much better buy compared to the TRD Off road.
  • Only new thing they added was the fob key from the 2022. No Army Green for this model. No Homelink mirror.
  • Only difference I see between this and the 2022 model is the auto down passenger window and push to start.

Thank you for the review. Looking to buy one but still debating if I should wait for the next generation Tacoma. I used to have a Tundra. Tundra is a little too big and the current Tacoma is a little too small. Hopefully Toyota will make the next generation Tacoma a little bigger.

Don’t discount MTS. It’s pretty effective at simulating a front locker. Offroad is still better.
