The latest on NHRA legend John Force

Published 2024-06-25
NHRA legend John Force is in intensive care in a Richmond hospital after a harrowing crash at an event in Virginia this past weekend.
AFP racing reporter Rod Mullins updates us on Force's condition, which is very much touch-and-go at this early stage.
The podcast also covers the pending move of Chase Briscoe to Joe Gibbs Racing, and Christopher Bell's win in New Hampshire on a rainy NASCAR Sunday.

  • Keeping the GOAT and family, crew in my thoughts and prayers 🙏
  • 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I an 76 years old and remember John from the very early days. I cannot Amagine that hit, the body does not recover easy. I worried about brain injury. Praying and wishing him the best.
  • John needs to get well, get out of the hospital and go open the John Force drag racing museum. Give tours and narration. The fans would really enjoy that.
  • I’m 70, still drag racing, but not at 300+ mph. That’s silly if you ask me, especially at 75. When we get older we are nowhere near as resilient as when we were young. Johns not stupid, just doesn’t want to let it go. Mother Nature has other plans for us all! I hope he recovers and announces his retirement. No one would blame him. He’s done it all with nothing left to prove. He is the reigning GOAT in Funny Cars. God Bless John and family! 👍😎🇺🇸❤️

I believe John has a either a very severe concussion or he has swelling of the brain. A concussion is bad, but if the brain swells that could mean brain damage. With all the crashes and head injuries he has had if he goes back to racing and does not hang up his helmet I feel he is asking for something even worst. We all love John and watching him race, but enough is enough. We have John now and I am afraid we may loose him if he does not quit now.

John Force would be considered a VIP at any hospital because of his notoriety. His notoriety alone would insure his stay in ICU. The fact that John is still in ICU doesn't mean infer anything. Blood vessels could have sheared. Such things take time to reveal themselves.

God bless John Force and his family. Praying for his speedy recovery ❤‍🩹

When John Force hit the wall on the left side it was a major impact. That had to hurt. After he was on the gurnee he sat up to address Brittany and he looked in pain.
  • Please get the facts re: the wreck. He hit the wall twice, and both were with tremendous force!!
  • If Johns condition is unknown by now it is not good. The doctors will probably not medically clear him for some time, and probably recommend he not race anymore like they did with Swervin Ernie Irvin and Neil Bonnet.
  • Prayers for John and family he is such a amazing driver

I love John, I would hang-up my helmet as John doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. I hope he is around another 20 years to enjoy his family and the racing enterprise he has built. A legend for sure! Heal well & quickly John.
  • We've (Cal State Fullerton)won a few of those college W.S. Congratulations! John Force lives not too far from us in Yorba Linda Ca. Great guy! Heal fast John.

Praying for him and his family as anyone in motorsports or even those not even a fan. But they all know his name, his fame and his girls. John is like NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt to Funny Cars and drag racing. I've always been a NASCAR fan and I remember losing Dale. It happened on my birthday and thing is, I wasn't a hardcore Dale fan. I hated him in the early years, but loved him in his golden years. But that is what John means, and it's time Mr Force. Time for you to pass the torch and find that new thrill from the outside.....
  • Courtney who is married to Graham is younger than Brittany Ashley is married to his crew chief. You must not know much about Force.
  • My first experience with John Force was 1997 and he was King then running 3.12
