🚨IT JUST HAPPENED! COWBOYS SIGNS ANOTHER FREE AGENT! DALLAS COWBOYS NEWS TODAY!

The Dallas Cowboys have locked in another free agent deal, this time with one of their own players. According to team reporter Patrik Walker, cornerback Jourdan Lewis is returning to the Cowboys on a one-year contract.

Lewis, a former standout from Michigan, is set for his eighth season with the team. The deal is reportedly fully guaranteed. Despite facing a season-ending foot injury in 2022, Lewis bounced back to play all 16 games for Dallas last season.

Although his stats weren't his career best, Lewis showed steady improvement throughout the season, especially after injuries reshuffled the secondary lineup. In the final stretch of the season, he emerged as Pro Football Focus' top-rated run-defending corner, earning high grades.

With Lewis back in the fold, the Cowboys address depth concerns in the cornerback position, particularly with DaRon Bland being the only other experienced player on the roster. Lewis' return could mean he'll resume his role in the slot, while Bland takes the outside spot, offering a solid defensive setup for 2024.

Bringing back Lewis not only bolsters the team's defensive depth but also provides flexibility for the upcoming draft. Plus, it eases pressure off Trevon Diggs as he recovers from injury and gives defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer another reliable option to work with.
