Vanguard Bandits, Final Fantasy, Azure Dreams, Crash, Spyro, MGS, Silent Hill, Chrono Cross, Twisted Metal, Hydro Thunder, even the demo discs were fun. The 90s and early 2000s was the best era in gaming. Fun times while they lasted.

1998-2000 Best Years For The PS1
  • Just seeing the thumbnail makes me feel a certain type of way. I can never get enough of the jrpg's at this time. The amount of different styles of the genre was insane. PS1 properly introduced the cd era far as consoles, it was like opening this crazy box of different capabilities

launched late 95 for $299. march 97 it was HALF that price. at the very end the psone (slim) was $49. was the same for nes, snes, gen/md, n64, saturn, ps2, ngc, xbox. consoles are supposed to be half launch price (or better) by the end of their life. now pay for multiplayer, extra controller is $70, and digital games you don't actually own. who knew the future was gonna suck so hard?

This is one of the best videos I've seen about PS1 games, but you do miss some all-time classic on the console: Tarzan, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Hercules, 007: Tomorrow Never Dies, Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, Digimon World, Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories. But you're really caught me off guard with some titles, like Ready 2 Rumble, keep up the good work.

I love it how games released in 2001 (Strikers 1945), 2002 (Gekioh) and 2003 (Mobile Light Force) were also released for the Sega Saturn in Japan (as Strikers 1945-II, Shienryu and Gunbird, respectively). The Sega Saturn deserved a lot better in North America, but at least it was very successful in Japan.
  • this is why i said ps1 is teh goat of all video game consoles. 1995 to 2003. you got the best of the 16 bit era. 32 bit era. 64 bit era. and best of the 3D era. 2d era and 2.5d era. best anime games, best 2d graphics. best digitzed graphics game. best 3d graphics. last stages of the sega g and snes era. n64 and sega saturn era. and beginning of the sega dreamcast and ps2 era.

This feels like reliving my teenage years again.
  • awesome this is my favorite videogame and favorite type of video from your channel haha
  • Awesome, I love videos like this!! šŸ‘ I always catalog and think of game libraries in "release date order" so really enjoy watching in this format. I deeply researched out my own "best PS1 games" lists a couple of years ago, trying to limit myself to 20 games per year with honorable mentions (except 10 games for 1995, and fewer for 2001-2-3). I took some notes while watching this video to compare our lists. Overall a lot of similarities! I'm not into the destruction-style driving games, or wrestling/boxing games, but otherwise we have tons of overlap. Here are some games missing from your video that I would include in my own Top 300: 1995: Novastorm, The Raiden Project, BA Toshinden, Jupiter Strike 1996: Darkstalkers The Night Warriors, Adventures of Lomax, Bust-A-Move 2 Arcade, Persona 1 1997: Raystorm, Mega Man X4, Tobal 2, Pandemonium 2, Moon, Time Crisis, Croc 1: Legend of the Gobbos, Disneyā€™s Hercules, Cool Boarders 2 1998: Hot Shots Golf, Rival Schools, Gex 2 Enter the Gecko, MDK, Wild 9 1999: Destrega, Tail Concerto, Thousand Arms, Gex 3 Deep Cover Gecko, Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Echo Night, Ehrgeiz, Tā€™ai Fu Wrath of the Tiger 2000: Hot Shots Golf 2, Alundra 2, Vanark, Colony Wars 3, SaGa Frontier 2, Expendable, Marvel vs Capcom Clash of Super-Heroes 2001: High Heat Baseball 2002, Blaster Master Blasting Again, Harry Potter & the Sorcererā€™s Stone 2002: Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets 2003: Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale You reminded me to go back and look more deeply at: 1995: Kingā€™s Field 1996: D, Kingā€™s Field II 1997: Spider, Norse by NorseWest, One 1998: Broken Sword, Future Cop LAPD, Kartia, Jade Cocoon 1999: Rollcage, Driver, Broken Sword II 2000: Jojoā€™s Bizarre Adventure Thanks for this video journey. Great footage from most of the games, really evocative of their appeal to gamers of the time. I love 5th gen!
