It takes your breath away. The emotions, chemistry, comedy, and the cherished love it captures. It reaches your heart and soul.
  • Anyone who has ever had a love that can never be will identify with that emotive portrayal in this film…. I feel it, cry it all again every time I see it..❤❤❤❤❤

I'd forgotten how much I love this film. A perfect film in every sense; from the actors to the story to the ending. Simply beautiful.

A beautiful movie. I don’t live too far from Madison County, Iowa. Basically grew up during this same time frame on a small family farm. Mom always wore a dress, usually one that had been used as a “good dress” and then known as a housewife’s dress years later. We seldom bought new clothes except for different seasons like Christmas or Easter. We all worked together doing chores. I did a few things in the kitchen but I usually was outside helping or doing chores. Very good work ethics were taught by example and “no” or “ I don’t want to” were not acceptable answers to being told or asked to do something. We usually were very proud that we were allowed to do another more matured chore than the year before. We were taught that quitting or giving up was not commendable. We learned that with endurance and perseverance could accomplish what we set out to do. Television time was strictly supervised and all meals were done with the entire family starting with a prayer. I could go on about life on a family farm but this is for comments, the book and movie has already been written and produced. I thank those who had a part in both. And, yes, I’m still living in a small Iowa farm community, but now am retired remembering years gone by. God Bless you and yours. Much love to all. 💞
  • When the movie first came out, I was in a dilemma after viewing, but tended toward her leaving, "to fulfill her life." Twenty years later, I understood, and cried my eyes out as I had not the first time. Cried not for loss but for the beauty of this woman's soul.
  • The theme song and the end when Francisca opens the box from Robert after he dies. Omg I cannot stop crying... beautiful adult love story. Make more!!! I love this movie. 💔

Every single part of this film is perfect. It couldnt have been made better. A masterpiece of Love and tragedy, and the music has all that feeling in it , all the sadness of the final loss . And the way it finally ends is perfect and gives closure . Clint's finest time (and all done in 36 days !!!)
  • The sweetest movie ever made by Clint Eastwood. Both of these actors did a great job.
  • I think by her not opening the door connected her with more women in the audience than would ever care to admit.

This is a movie that will remain close to my heart til the day I die..... "A Love Like this But only Comes Once in a Lifetime", my true story. <3
  • The book went into a lot more detail, which was very satisfying. But Clint Eastwood on the big screen was equally satisfying 💘 he is ridiculously handsome, even at 65 😍

My most favorite movie in the whole world. The love, the scenery, the emotions, it touches me to the core. ❤

2023 and clearly this is a classic that will remain. I appreciated that this story was about characters in their mid 40s to 60s. I am so torn by this movie and I cried during the car scene and the box scene at the end. What a heartbreaker infidelity is. Commitment, promises, self-sacrifice and duty vs a once in a lifetime love. Which one would you choose? I guess that is the question that the movie asks you to answer...which is what makes it a great movie that will endure many moons.
  • This was my mother’s FAVORITE movie. We watched it several times together. She passed in 2016. I hadn’t been ABLE to watch it until 2020. I have her copy of the book too.

I love that they took a chance on a young, new (talented) screenwriter named Richard LaGravense who insisted that the film sustain the intent of the book, two older people ... saying that casting a 35 year-old would be a huge mistake. A year later, Richard would go on to write The Mirror Has Two Faces ... later, Living Out Loud, Beloved, Water for Elephants, Beautiful Creatures AND Unbroken. He also directed many of these films. Amazing artist.
  • I’ve watched this movie many times and cried. This preview and sharing of the making of the movie and all the nuances and feelings and emotions had me drawn in all over again. And as I’m sobbing here all over again I’m thinking just how glad I am that I own this movie and it’s just in the cabinet waiting….
  • This movie is the best movie I have ever seen. You can really feel and ”smell” it. So sad that they didnt get each other.
