The unusual sight of large over-topping waves in early August during a period of poor weather. A flattish sea earlier in the day quickly changed as the wind switched N/West late afternoon on rising 'Supermoon' spring tides to wreak havoc & inflict damage as people attempted to move cars at high tide.

I’ve watched this video countless times now. I noticed that after pointing out the water coming out of the camper van to the couple. That you very quickly climbed up the steps. Am I thinking right you can read the waves 🌊 I would have been laughing my head off & the camera would’ve been moving all over the place. But you kept it very professional well done sir👍

Whenever there's extreme danger you can always rely on human beings to put themselves right in the middle of it.

That guy is so lucky standing behind the bmw that the wave didn’t push it further and crush his legs

I’m sorry for those whose cars suffered damage. Those waves are my ideal waves, I try so hard to get some beautiful wave shots whenever I am at an ocean, I drive my friend and my husband crazy, lol. Nothing beats the sight and sound of thunderous waves!

Never underestimate the power of the sea. It's beautiful but so dangerous. Fab footage x

I lived in Ilfracombe for 25 years and that particular car park is notorious for this kind of thing. Those kids are dicing with death. The year we arrived in the town, the sea took 5 cars clean out of that place down into the rocks 30 feet below!! One of them was never found. If one of them got swept over, there would be no saving them.

Great footage mate. Looked fun but deadly 😮 really enjoyed every minute of this 👍

Despite the battering of the waves, they sure were beautiful to watch! Lovely sea green colors. Bet they were quite the show to see in person!!

That poor E46 is fighting a constant rust battle even when it’s bone dry let alone getting flooded by the sea 😢

The guy who stood between the wall and the car as huge waves were hitting wins todays darwin award.

The problem is not only the waves but also the stones who comes along with the waves 🌊

This landscape struck by waves and winds is so beautiful, I love this country for its beauty

I swear people who get that close to waves like this are thick as two planks. All it takes is a foot of water or so to take you off your feet and it could end in a bad way. People don't realise.

1:50 The way the water pushes the car and van around like it's nothing. Nature is incredible

Great footage. Nice to see a video that's done in landscape mode rather than amateurish portrait style. That way we don't lose two thirds of a picture. Well done.👍

Top quality footage fella, gutted for all the owners, a few quids worth of damage there 😢

Thanks for the video. This just shows the power of water. Amazing.
  • Staithes village in Yorkshire has huge waves that go right up the main road from the harbour. It's also where "Old Jack's Boat" was filmed. A beautiful place.
