The ballots were counted in the UK, and the results show that a landslide for Labour took place, with Keir Starmer now Prime Minister.

It's the first time in 14 years that Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party won't be in power… so how did they go from running the country to a record defeat?

  • And a big thanks to Boris, Truss and all their supporters who helped take the Tories down. Well done.👏👏

Yep. under the Tories foodbanks increased by a pittance of 5000% . Homelessness increased by a droplet 120 % and NHS waiting up by only 200% 👍. That’s what highly educated leaders do 😂

Here is EXACTLY what's going to happen: 1) The Tories were voted out in a landslide. 2) In about three or four years, everyone will become impatient that Labour has not fixed everything it took the Tories half a generation to destroy. 3) The Tories will be voted back in because "at least they get stuff done". 4) Rinse. 5) Repeat.

From Cameron's austerity, May's inability to lead her party, Johnson's lies, Truss's stupidity and Sunak's weakness they collectively brought the UK to its knees. To hell with them all. The young must never forget that Conservatives will always put party before the country and its people.
  • I live in the UK and have a daughter with severe support needs. I can count the number of times I've had 8 hours of unbroken sleep this year on one hand. The Tories took control before I was a teenager. I am sobbing with relief watching them that they are gone and that, at least for the next few years, I don't have to raise a disabled child in a tory run country.

'A sobering verdict that is much to learn and reflect on.' No problem at all, Conservative Party has much time on hand after this election. :face-green-smiling:

I’m afraid I don’t know that much about British politics, but I have noticed that there have been more iterations of PM’s over the past decade than Timelords in Doctor Who.

Britain has been falling apart for decades under Labour and the Conservative government. The rich are getting richer.

I grew up in the UK, emigrated in 2013. It's been awful watching from Australia, as the place I called home has torn itself apart and become a shadow of the country I remember. So many people suffering. I cried with joy...well...releif...a little bit when I saw the result. It's still a deeply fractured nation, but with the Tories gone, there's hope. Glad to see Britain hasn't followed the rest of Europe to the right too, not that there aren't valid concerns being brought up by the right, but more for the fact that I'm sick of populist politicians/politics. Let's all remember that the Tories are the direct analogue of the Liberals/Nationals here. If they ever had 14 years, Australia would look just as sickly. Things Can Only Get Better... 🌹
