“Let’s hope her budget in October makes a lot more sense than this did.”

Rachel Reeves' statement shows “she’s already part of that problem,” as she commits to £9bn of public sector pay rises but will not pursue £12bn of welfare savings, says William Hague.

And your darling Tory party did such a great job in government, times radio. Go play a different song, you're boring me now, give me news not Tory soundbites.
  • How much monety did the Con Government flush down the toilet with Track n Teace, PPE Rwanda etc etc.
  • @JelMain
Given they failed to disclose about 40bn of spending - so far - to the OBR, I don't think the Tories have the faintest idea what they're talking about.
  • @andypickett1
And now apparently the tories lied to the OBR, he should scurry back under his stone, shameful man.
  • @dazzwsmith
More tory lies from their favourite mouthpiece.
  • @OwenGrantham
Times Radio neglecting to ask the very people who created the problem over 14 years to account, whilst pointing the finger at a Government who've only been in power for a matter of weeks.
  • @parametr
Holy... even previous Tories are unable to stop lying to us, trying to cover up for their gang.
  • @PaulK-ve1pu
He's got more neck than a giraffe. If I were a Tory, I'd spend the next 10 years with a paper back over my head.
  • This is what makes me laugh about the Tories. They won't take responsibility for the last 14 years. 14 YEARS!!! They need to apologise for the mess they left the country in!
  • @dannyhudders
Pointing out the last 14 years of failure is political, however it is time to talk economic truths about wages (real term) and the standard of living. Even with some of these larger rises they will be worse off. This is also the truth when it comes to private sector wages. So the question is given the vast quantities of cash injections to the economy during the last few years is where has it all gone? The wealthy! Start taxing wealth!
  • @RogueGneral
It's all a game!!! Labour aren't playing it and are calling them out!
  • Reeves is meeting necessary expenditure when she announces her spending! Junior doctor's small pay was a disgrace which Tories did nothing to alleviate to the prejudice of the patients!! Reeves has the authority to spend monies in any necessary manner to meet the requirements of governance! And regardless of the 22Billion Tory shortfall in the accounts!
  • @VinceLammas
I'm really disappointed that nobody is asking just how the Conservatives expected to reduce welfare spending by a further £12bn. This published "ambition" was a purely speculative statement and itself a political stunt used to justify unaffordable tax cuts before an impending election - hoping to trap Labour with new problems and constraints or force them to reverse tax cuts during a (still seriou) cost of living crisis. I want to read the OBR letter that describes what has come to light before I make a decision about who is exaggerating and who is playing rhetorical games.

They are all evil. Rest in peace to them little babies and my thoughts are with the ones still fighting ❤️ but the whole government is evil and so are all these immigrants! Why are we letting them control us? Just why?
  • @lockymonster
It's a few billion either side, of a promise of how much there planning to give away to foreign entities with no oversight.
  • I listened to the whole speech and it made perfect sense to me. I don't personally agree with not capping social care costs now but everything else was sensible. Right Wing media trying to pick holes.
  • @Petersworld77
Another “let’s ask a Tory “ story. Yesterday’s failed politicians in no place to pass judgement or even comment.
  • William she was short of money to begin with cos of the Tory shortfall of 22Billion pounds!
