That Grizzly could have killed them with his bear hands.

Stay as calm as possible and talk to the bear. This guy needs a medal, awesome composure.

They were only 5 minutes into their hike. Guess the bear will be waiting in their car when they get back.

imagine the bear turning around because of his laugh at the end. The bear would be like " chu laughin at "
  • You can hear the suppressed terror in his voice and the relief when the bear passed by. Quite an experience, and well handled.

When a bear is on a trail it seems like you should get off the trail

Bear: "If that Australian bites me on the leg I will probably die" Bear yielded.

Funniest Aussie accent I have ever heard.......That is a Sth African.

For you people that visit Alaska and Canada and come across Grizzly Bears... there have been many bear attacks like this where the bear casually passes by and the hiker thinks he/she is now safe only for the bear to ambush them a short time later. Be careful and remember you are never fully safe in those forests. Besides swimming in the ocean it's really one of the only other places on this planet where humans become prey.

Amazingly composed hiker, my respect for your keeping calm. And yes, I have seen grizzly bears in the wild, but never that close. I wish all hikers had this guys composure and respect for the bear.

This happens to me in Montana. Took the high rd of the trail. No eye contact. Minded my biz. Heart Rate 150 bpm

The bear obviously didn’t feel threatened or afraid of the hikers. Awesome handling of the situation. Can’t say I would have been as calm haha.
  • You were on his path.. he just wanted to get around you...smart respectful bear...lucky you..!
  • @driver55
Amazing how he circled around them to continue down that trail. Wow
  • That beats like “ da la la la...” just strolling and minding my own business.... soooo cute
  • I've had 3 bear encounters in my life so far. It's a terrifying experience when they are close. I've been charged twice. Never run.
