I think anyone who was familiar with her before knows she was never a bubbly pink pop princess 😂 she’s always been odd

my favorite doja arc is the one where she called her biggest fans weirdos, and then they started acting super weird and she was like "see what i mean?"

My theory is that she's actually very insecure (as shown by her actions in the webchat rooms, for example); and while she loves and lives for attention, she got sick of being loved for a fake image of herself - someone she isn't. So she swung the completely other way, renouncing beauty and femininity, in hopes of feeling more free and living more authentically, not realizing that this was also another artificially construed persona, and that her truth lives somewhere in the middle...

It’s wild to me because she’s been like this from the beginning. Idk why everyone is acting shocked and shook.

It is not difficult to understand why she constantly responds to her haters. She grew up reading and spending most of her time in internet chat rooms/social media, of course she's not going to be able to ignore and shake off the haters on the very platforms she's indulged in and craved attention from for years. Can't ignore the thing that essentially "raised" her.

The crazy part is, she is self aware af. You can literally hear in her music that she’s talking about all of her controversial antics and how people feel about her in her music. Paint the town red for example.

I'm enjoying your calm delivery so much. No hate, I'm just personally tired of rushed and urgent tone of similar documentaries and video essays.

There are people that aren't really made to be world famous and she is one of those. Her humor is almost like on edge, overly sarcastic and trolly. She is a kid of chatrooms and 4chan. I get her.

She has always been interested in alternative fashion in all kinds. She was always a creative person. When she got recognized by people out of her tiny edgy circle, they simply couldn't get it. She is not made to please crowds from all over the world. I love her fashion sense and Scarlet era. I loved her in her Amala era too. Some things that she says are shocking even to me, almost like she forgets that the whole world is waiting for her explains over the new dumb things. She humbled her alternative sense around 2020-2021 to be a world known popstar but it simply didn't work for her because she has a different vision of art that is not supposed to be loved by the masses.

She was on 4chan as a child and honestly that should tell you everythin
  • @EdWedgie
I think her beauty + being good at satire (which shows self awareness) + appealing to her age bracket will never allow her to fail. Twitter tried to cancel her so many times and here we are.
  • @MrFoxxRaven
She isn't getting weird. She's just getting comfortable enough to behave like she did online, IRL. At least that's what it looks like.
  • @cabbage8599
Honestly if you watch any of her livestreams or recent interviews, you'll see she's always been the same person. She says out of pocket things and doesn't conform to the "role model" title that everyone wants celebrities to embrace.

I can’t tell if you make videos on literally everything ever, or if you just make videos on the obscure, entirely unrelated topics that I look up because I see you everywhere. Subscribed

I came here from her fandom subreddit on Reddit. Glad you spoke out
  • @archieblue2801
She's an experienced internet troll & self admittedly someone who's lived terminally online for a decently long period of time & is using this normally useless experience to her advantage big time. She's got to remain relevant I guess.
  • @PatrickCc
sorry the post was an hour late i got age restricted.. hope this one stays up
  • @Rude4eyez

As a rock fan I feel a weird flashback to the late 90' and 2000' when some metal bands appeared with edgy songs / music videos to grab as much attention as possible and the theme was - yep - worship of the devil. It's funny that it works especially in countries with a high level of religious people (as far as I know USA is one of them) and in this case it's amazing that she went from girly pop artist your average 7-12 year old daughters follows to full blown devil impersonator - and again in an (maybe?) ingenious move this can really work. If her fans were just kids when listening to her pop albums they should be teens by now. And trust me - teens love listening and following artists that do shit like this. Been there - done that.
So overall - good for her! As the video says - she might have scared some of her original audience ...
BUT ... I would add that it could make her even more famous.
Also I feel a parallel with Miley Cyrus would be appropriate - early career as child pop artist with nice feel good pop songs gradually advancing into sex themes all over.
A natural career path nowadays and it needs to be more extreme because the audience is desensitized like a war veteran - after seeing all the crazy crap in the world you need even crazier acts in pop culture to stay ahead.
