Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on YouTube!

Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!

On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.

A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.

DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!

Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.

Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!

Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!

Ok, now for the ugly stuff...

"..it's not contributing to the intellect of our society" YES!!! 💯 Spot on, Gly! I appreciate you and your message. Thanks for your hard work
  • @zambufly1
I'm glad I don't feel like an abandoned follower...
  • Hi Gly. One of our mutual subscribers brought to my attention your mention of our channel in this video. Thanks for the shout-out. Our little channel just keeps plugging along. 😊
  • @schwabra
Your contribution is appreciated to providing real experience and not just empty reality TV. My wife and I watch weekly and enjoy your content. We have come to understand more of the culture of exploration and history while being entertained.

Thank you for being authentic in your presentation of the material and realities you face keeping this alive.

The "Old Bob" is also a great flashback to other days of imagined exploration.
  • @Marcus-ki1en
Thanks for the stand. What I object to most is the manufactured drama in those genre of shows. Always drama, always a controversy. I love your channel because it is all about the craft. Keep doing you.
  • @AdventuresRUs
Like everything in the world, popularity for something grows and falls. But if we’re lucky, the mine exploring genre will come back stronger than ever. We appreciate that you give credit to other fellow mine exploring channels, it shows the type of guy you really are. Take care Gly and thank you!

Lost Mines over in Wales GB have started using ROV to explore flooded mines. Its such a unique reveal, because ordinary explorers cannot get into the depths. Many flooded mines have been entombed and untouched for centuries. Either way, for some strange reason, I love watching these types of channels. Gly you work hard at what you do, it's always an interesting video you put out. Geology explanations are always valued. Keep up the good work. You and others produce far better videos than the mainstream, more organic, more real to life. 👍👍👍👍
  • Nice job Gly. Thanks for all the work you put into showing us this entire area. It's always a pleasure to spend the weekend with you.

I also appreciate the explanation but don't ever expect it. I like what you do and I watch for your passion, experience, and expertise.

As long as you keep it real, your true fans will always be here.

The opening drone footage was amazing! made me feel like I was on a little rocketship! Thanks Gly for another epic adventure!
  • Gly, I appreciate the quality you put into your videos. Every Saturday I look forward to the next adventure!
  • @JDJ1898JADE
As far as I'm concerned you always knock it out of the park. Your Saturday morning videos are always something to look forward to. May there be many, many more.
  • Hey Gly! I’ve been watching your content for at least 2 years now, and I absolutely fell in love with you and your previous crew of Mr. M and Randy! You never cease to amaze me and you always keep me wanting another video! You are so amazing, Sir! This is by far one of the BEST communities I have really ever seen on any platform! Keep on keeping on sir! I can not wait to see for far you go!
  • @ubb262s
There quite a few mine exploring channels but yours is unique, visually exquisite, your explanation of what you encounter is without drama, you make these videos fun and educational, thank you for the hard work you do
  • I like that you not just an explorer but and educator too. It makes it much more enjoyable when I'm learning something by watching.
  • @brahoy
I miss the days when the main channels where educational. I learn so much on YouTube from guys like yourself. Please keep it coming and don't be afraid to get too technical. More geology talk would be amazing.
  • @charleyl264
I found that when you click on the "Like" but then back out using the left arrow at the top left of the screen, it erases the "like". Everyone needs to "Quit" watching using the "X" at the top right of the screen after clicking the "like". This preserves the "like" registration. You can then re-load Youtube and search for the next video that you want to see. Do this for Gly, and every other Youtube video that you watch to give them more credit for what they have put together for our entertainment.

This channel has always been my favorite since I subscribed when there was about 18,000 subscribers. Documenting and preserving mines is SO important IMO. I have one of the big stickers from this channel on my truck, and have had many people ask about it. Even random people at gas stations filling up behind me. Anything I can do to support Gly. I enjoy many abandoned mine channels, but Gly’s is hard to surpass, and is the most enjoyable for me. Keep up the good work!!
  • @TheShornak
One of the reasons I don't watch TV anymore is all the reality that's on it. And as I hope everyone knows none of it is real. This is one of the reasons I watch and love your videos so much. I learn so much, I see places I never will get to see. It's not about the next thrilling moment before going to a commercial. You have a great channel and I hope it doesn't change, just grows.
  • Sometimes I forget to click the like button but I'll make it a point to do better on that one -- I ALWAYS watch. I'm glad you aren't interested in "monetary gain" and instead want to take us with you on your mine-exploring adventures. I refuse to watch any of those channels that are all about money -- they are way too fake for me and often destructive of the things around them. Keep on keeping on Gly!
  • @ORYNDA1
Perfect idea for increasing your subscribers and views for your videos. Puppies!!! Anything that has puppies or dogs in the video gets astronomic views sometimes a million or more. Sooo, You lower some puppies down a shaft Then later you nonchalantly walk by and say "You hear that I think somethings down there" Yep I hear puppies! You proceed to rescue them for the remainder of your show. you are now the Hero! Title it: Puppies Rescued at Abandoned mine!!! A million views for sure! so glad I could help!
